*laughs* Nah, I'm trying to stay out of it, honestly.
I've had bad experiences IRL with people calling me 'c-nt' for refusing to 'service' them 'like women are supposed to'...
Transbot's a good guy so I figured he didn't mean it the way it came across to me, he had no way of knowing my history with that term or the 'women servicing them' bit...
That's why I really only addressed the #3 comment as it excluded the comics back-story/implied that the cartoon was the only reference for why the TFs were built... I came into the TF fandom through the comics in '84 and didn't get introduced to the TV show till the movie/season 3, thus the comics are my 'default' view on TFs. ...But I also ADORE Beast Wars, and I'm over-all enjoying Prime and I am a HUGE fan of Victory ^^
*shrugs* The guys AND girls in the fandom have a really wide range of views on the hows and whys of female transformers. None of them are wrong, and I usually just end up bemused by it all.

So my view on this? Bemusement^^

Whatever the reason for the creation of fembots, IDW Arcee kicks major ass. I was never a fan of her until IDW made me a fan.

Azalea is IDW Arcee and I need her in my collection in all her bad ass glory.

Well I don't own a fembot, so I would love to have this one. I almost bought the PE version til I saw this. I will definitely wait for this.

    Wait......other people can read this?

I agree. I didn't really care about Arcee until I read the IDW comics. Now she is one of my favorite characters in the comic. I like this figure because it IS IDW Arcee, not some crappy "Delicate Warrior" G1 style figure.

    ^ This. :)

I've personally never cared for the cartoon's "built by the Quintessons" origin of the transformers. Not that the comic's Primus origin is oh so much better. Both have their rather... odd, points. Though it does seem like HasTak have gone with the latter in more or less everything post-G1.

As for why transformers have gender, I don't see why that needs an explicit explanation. I mean the reality is obviously that the series was designed by humans, and hence have human characteristics so they're more relatable. But the series doesn't go out of it's way to explain why sentient robots have two arms and two legs, or mouths and noses (usually). So why should they have to explain gender?

I'd rather question why Transformers can have designed facial hair than question why there are fembots ;)

Once you start thinking about the logic of a lot of things in TF's the entire universe falls apart around it all haha. Best to allow ones imagination/sense of disbelief to wander a bit to enjoy the franchise for what it is I say.

Except the bay films, god, so much relentless stupid that never makes sense. lol

I like to think of that not as hair, but as trim, like on a car. It is so you know it's the deluxe model.

Apologies, I initially only meant to say one post overreacted to another. I still stand by that but obviously it got out of hand.

I still genuinely don't see the sexism in the 'service' statement though. If I invented fembots to serve me (because I do like to be served by sexy gals) that does not mean by extension that all women are built to serve 'me man' nor does it mean I believe women should serve men. It just means I enjoy the female form as I'm certain many other men also enjoy. Sorry to extend the issue this last bit, I just want to conclude that I think anyone offended by this is projecting their own words into the statement and not reading it for what it is. This is the most I've posted in months my apologies for being so long-winded.

Back on topic? robot facial hair and reason for fembots? :D  ... What even defines a fembot anymore? With the existence of Stryka, botanica, Bay-verse bike girls (if those count)... Does fembot basically break down into female voice? In terms of the classic hour-glass form and girl parts... Jazz, Prowl, and all like designs have larger 'busts' than Arcee and most fembots were ever portrayed to have. There are plenty of slender male characters now too, animated blur, Prime Starscream and Soundwave... Wheelie has a high voice (albeit annoying). I think origins like IDW are overthinking why Arcee is feminine (though it's still an awesome portrayal of the character), but why can't Cybertronian fembots just happen to be a combination of all these traits found individually in plenty of male characters? It's just a combination that we as humans project as female and they choose to be referred to as she? That's plenty explanation for me.

As for facial hair... I just think of metal plate versions like Scourge/Alpha Trion/etc. to possibly be heat sinks, cooling vents, air intakes, partial battle armor masks or whatever else they could be thought to be. Or just cosmetic like an unnecessarily large spoiler or like Dustin said, some fancy trim. Wreck-gar's more hair-like extensions though... Well his entire culture and language stem from TV lol, maybe it's his attempt at cosplaying a human haha.

I'm pumped for this project! I know I'm late to the digibash game, but I wanted to share my support with my own version:

    Well played sir.

Although it is not your fault, I associate brown plastic with the cheapo stuff that Hasbro loves using these days. So I am anti the brown bits but love the rest (well maybe pink lips and blue eyes). That box just makes her seem that much more real.
