Hey all. For my 2nd crack at this new painting hobby ( still learning ) I just kept being drawn to the BH Optimus Prime Voyager. And he was in SERIOUS need of some detail work. Well, it started out as just that. And then it sort of turned into something else. One thing led to another and he even got to the point of nearly being scrapped. But with a couple of helpful advisement from some fellow TF fans we ended up with REGAL PRIME. I think he turned out okay for the most part. So just putting him out there. Now about to start on my next one. It will be this same mold but a COMPLETELY different direction. Feeling better on this one and using what I learned from Regal. Hope you like.
I like what you're doing here! The color scheme is a little too random for my tastes, but it seems to especially work well in truck mode; it makes the back part blend a little more, instead of just looking like cheap gray plastic covering up arms and legs. In any case, your paint work looks great, and I love your attitude of enjoying the process of learning and growing as a customizer. That's inspiring to me.
Thanks. The colors are not as bad in person but yeah. That is EXACTLY what I was feeling when I stepped back. Too busy. So that's what I'm really taking from this one really. Learn to edit and have a much more clear vision of the end result. Still, once a friend referred to him as a more regal look, that made me feel a little better about it and finish him up.
Yes please! I like the extra vibrancy to the colors and the placement, it is fitting of the name anyway!
True that. Not really much that can be done to his mouth without changing the whole head. They gave him a sneer from what I can tell.
Good work, man. Always impressed by the details you put into your work. Glad to have a Jerrymiru custom among my BH figs!
I really like the color mixes myself. I don't find it random or out of place at all. Since it was done similarly all over, it really brings it together for me. I'm still not a fan of the green plastic, derp face, or garbage truck mode, but this is probably one of my favorite looks to try and improve it so far. It almost brings the back end together enough to make it look like a giant van, which is immensely better than stock. Don't take my criticisms as a dig on your work, it's the figure itself that I have issues with. Mostly because there are things about it I love a lot for parts of the robot mode, but at the same time -more- that I hate about the vehicle and small bits of the robot. Just a little personal disclaimer is all.
