i've always preferred the classic yellow eyes for the toys. but red/blue for the show characters.

but blue tends to fade into the colors of the robot's head. especially optimus prime. to the point where you can not see the eyes really, unless there is light shining behind it.

As long as they mix well with the rest of the colour scheme I don't care.

This, in fact you forgot yellow! To me the Diaclone look of yellow eyes on most of the figures was the best, I mean look at the g1 original back art box those eyes in optimus glowing are great. Now in the cartoons the blue/red thing is acceptable.

All depends on the aesthetics of the continuity and whether a character has a visor or optics (or optic in Shockwave and Whirl's cases). Usually I prefer my Shockwave to yellow eyed but I'm fine with red depending on how menacing he looks and how well red looks with his design. Now there are some exceptions. Like the Combaticons. Swindle's must stay purple, Onslaught's must be yellow (non of that orange bullshit), Brawl's must be yellow, BO's must be purple, and Vortex's must be red if he's grey. Otherwise yellow is fine

This is like a Star Wars Lightsaber debate.

I think which ever color best suits the overall color scheme of the bot. Not which side. If there are guys changing sides, do they have to change eye balls too? Bots come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, which should their eye balls be limited? I think an insignia is enough.

I'd like more variety, not just Cons Red, Bots blue. That said, I think somebody as red as Optimus would look awful with red eyes. As long as it's a different colour to their primary colour, I think varied eye colours would be fine.

See Powermaster Prime for that scenario, I never liked it either.

I was brought up on the toys and the comics so couldn't care less about the blue / red eye thing.

I'm actually glad the Hasbro release of MP Soundwave will have a yellow visor.

The toys got me used to the thought of multiple eye colors a long time ago, so I'm indifferent.

I don't want character designs to be restricted to a certain eye color just because of what side they're on. Yellow or Green eyes look better on robots sometimes, anyway.

would much rather have eye colors mean something more personal about the specific character, varied eye colors with temperament perhaps.

I like variety, but I'm used to the blue and red Autobot and Decepticon eye colors.

Technically the eye color was always varied. Most Autobots have Blue eyes and most Decepticons have red eyes. It's only recently that they've ALL been done that way. There were exceptions in G1, Shockwave for example, it's not red or blue.

Doesn't matter, but if Thrust has the same eye color as Dirge and Ramjet then I'll throw a fit, lol.

And Metroplex had red eyes. And Shockwave had a yellow eye.

Thrust was the one who had yellow eyes. Dirge would have them too sometimes, but he generally has red eyes.

Couldn't really care what colour their eyes would be.
