Not sure what to really make of this. It's really vague and non provoking for an april fools joke. Unless they're trying to say that all three movies will come out in the same year.

I dunno, I wouldn't be too quick to flag this one as April Fool's. We did hear a rumor a while back saying 4+5 will be filmed this way.

No not that, they're saying there won't be any breaks in between the filming of the movies.

    TF4 - 2014
    TF5 - 2016
    TF6 - 2018

With a year in between for filming, but as soon as one's released they're already going to begin on the next with pre-production.

    I don't find this surprising.

The first three movies were practically back-to-back. They had, what, a two year gap? That's like a few months of down time between each one? Maybe they're just all like "cut the BS and let's just maximize our time and money" and then they did.

That would be the only other thing I could think of it meaning, but that would be insane. Non stop. And with Bay's style of shooting I think he could do it, but I feel the effects crew and ILM would die. :lol  WOuld they even have enough time to render everything?! That might mean less robots again.

I don't know how I'd feel about that. Probably wouldn't like it. The script would suffer more than what ROTFs did I feel.

why would it be such a big deal to film back-to-back? they did it with lord of the rings and harry potter. all those movies turned out great! though that was Peter Jackson (LOTR). :lol

...Harry Potter was not Peter Jackson. And not filmed back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back.

Because they already had their stories, they just had to be converted to screenplays. Transformers is starting anew. They have to build a story from the ground up. Granted they may take inspiration from previous plots, but they more or less make the story unique to the movies.

Usually they do films back-to-back to save money overall. It's just not done often because in the hit-and-miss world of Hollywood, studios are rarely interested in that size of commitment, which is why you usually only see it for sequels of mega-blockbusters.

It would make sense for them to do it that way if they can get everything lined up, specifically since we'd only heard Bay being tied to direct number 4. The franchise has been big enough to garner that level of up-front.

Done back-to-back, it's likely they'd release then a year apart, and that they'd be a more connected trilogy story-wise than the first three.

in this interview Peter Cullen hints at 3 more movie...

''Geek: And are you going to be involved in the new “Transformers” movie?

Cullen: Yes I am! There’s talk of three more, and it’s official. We’re very optimistic. We don’t know recording times exactly but they’re in pre-production now. And Michael Bay will be directing again as his splendiferous self! But that’s all down the line.

Matrix 2 and 3 were shot back to back. Matrix 3 came out only 6 months after 2
