I'm considering rewatching The Snowmen myself, if I can find a stream of it again (no clue if the original one I watched is still up).
Possibly. I know I did! Maybe the figure is a look into Karen's future when she's burnt out and doing the convention circuit full time?
I have a friend who's a huge Leela fan. She used to have a costume and go to conventions as her. By far her favorite companion.
Well we have the Third Doctor (obvious favorite) coming up this weekend on BBC America. The episode will be Spearhead From Space. I own this one and watched it more than once and I think it's a pretty good story.
It is a good story, and one of the best executed soft reboots you're ever likely to see in an ongoing series. Watching it now, it'd be hard to say if Pat Troughton's last story had been broadcast six months or six years before Spearhead went to air. New Doctor, new companion, new producer, new script editor, new format, new everything. The only cast member with any connection to the past is the Brigadier - who at this point wasn't even a series regular. When Doctor Who is eventually cancelled (again), then when it gets revived (again) they should look at Spearhead From Space for inspiration.
It's already been done. Russell T Davies was a big fan of the Pertwee era and when he got the job even invited Pertwee era producer Barry Letts and script editor Terrance Dicks to lunch and told them he was intending to try and recreate the spirit of their run for a modern audience. The reason the revived show kicked off with the Autons as the baddies was no coincidence.
Ok these 3 are just screaming for a spin off , Just kill torchwood off and give these 3 a tv series. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Mxaka4HyP4Q
Leela slaps woman (Doctor Who) - YouTube In the meantime, I've managed to snuck in a copy of the Target reading of the Second Doctor Story: The Mind Robber, read by Sir Derek Jacobi (Scream of The Shalka, Utopia & one of the DW Unbound series 1 stories), but I'm also waiting for the first couple of Fourth Doctor: Series 2 stories & the recent Sixth Doctor & Mel trilogy soon.
Actually no, but you're not that far away though, this its Pertwee's first story & features the first appearances of the Autons & The Nestene Consciousness in its early form. The Sontarans (or actually only one) appears in the latter part of the Third Doctor's era.
Torchwood is pretty dead and several people agree about the potential for those three to carry a show. Still, IMHO, the funniest interaction was the Judoon on Earth in the Sarah Jane Adventures. At one point there was a car chase and the Judoon driving the car chasing after the bad aliens wouldn't speed as it was against the posted speed limit and was therefore illegal.
Leela, a feisty companion when the concept was still somewhat original Tom's second series for BF starts off a bit like the first....slowly. But it picks up straight away and the 2-part adventure involving the Laan is great, the baddie played by David Warner is really good and his sidekick is reminiscent of Mr Fibuli from "The Pirate Planet"....both return later in the series. The reunion with Jago & Litefoot is awesome, you can tell that the actors were having huge fun working together again. Have you seen "The Mind Robber" on DVD?
The first Sontaran story was "The Time Warrior" which was also the first appearance of Sarah Jane Smith. After that their only other decent TV outing is "The Sontaran Experiment". The best story to feature them is by far "The First Sontarans" which is an audio adventure that was originally written for the TV show but presumably didn't make it as an 80's budget would have made several scenes considerably less effective. The Sontarans in that story are written as a ruthlessly efficient military force, not the pointless comedy fodder they've become since they were dragged out of retirement by RTD.
