Finally a new article for TF-1.com instead of just an updated version of an old one! This time it's the grandfather of everything, the Diaclone Battle Convoy.

"Optimus Prime, Battle Convoy, Diaclone Truck. Whichever official Takara or Hasbro toy line that this iconic and globally-recognised mould has been a part of, it's been the talismanic centrepiece. Its stature and gravity as part of the European-released Ceji Joustra Diaclone line is no exception, not only characterised as the leader of the heroic forces of good, but almost immediately becoming the most sought-after and popular Joustra Diaclone toy for collectors to find and purchase. The Ceji Joustra "Diaclone Truck" was released across mainland European countries like France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and Austria in 1984 in what has come to be known as 'Wave 1', the first year of Ceji Joustra Diaclone toys..."

In addition to the above, it's a great pleasure to also announce the pre-meditated co-publishing of Mijo's 20thCenturyToyCollector article on the three variants of Milton Bradley Optimus Primes here:

Maybe some more juicy photos will entice a few people to spend the time to read this seemingly unloved one? :)

Except for a couple of things I don't remember, it seems to me you've written about this Battle Convoy already.

I have no interest in collecting this stuff, but this is a historical goldmine and fun read.

Maybe I've mentioned it in TFsource articles and in the other Joustra articles on TF-1, but this is the only dedicated article I've ever produced for Battle Convoy. There was plenty of stuff I put in this piece that I've never mentioned before elsewhere, and certainly loads of new photography.

Outstanding piece. I've sometimes wondered if the people who designed the Optimus mold ever realized that they might be working on a toy that would become truly iconic? Great stuff!
