It was a (bad) joke, that did turn into a nonsensical rant.

Okay, two things I have to wonder if they might mention in future issues just from looking at that splash page.
1- At some point in the future will someone tell Ambulon he should have made a "Kicks Butt" joke.
2- Does "May be turned into melee weapon" count as a known weakness for Whirl?

 

I like Cosmos. Even though he's an AUTObot that turns into a Flying Saucer without an explanation of HOW he can be an AUTObot that turns into a Flying Saucer. Cosmos, along with a whole bunch of other Transformers didn't understand that if you're going to call yourself an AUTObot, it would probably be a good idea to turn into a car so that the name of your faction would CONTINUE TO MAKE SENSE. So points off for being a mislabeled Decepticon toy. Alternative lifestyle aside, Cosmos had a cool accent that made him a likable character... so he might as well be dead. I say this because the Cosmos we all know and love from the Sunbow cartoon won't have the same "voice" in IDW. He'll be just another one of Roberts' too witty/too chatty types, transforming from robot to UFO and back again for cheap laughs in Swerve's bar. I hope Overlord bashes Whirl into him with enough force to break him up like a cheap KO G1 reissue.

No, that's what Michael Bay is. The AUTO in my AUTObots means that they turn into cars.

 

If they really wanted to stop Overlord one of them would just yell "HEY GUYS THE NEWS SAY MEGATRON DIED AGAIN".

 

Or point out the longer he wastes killing them, the more likely someone else really will kill Megatron. Thought that might just make him stop messing around.

 

WAIT, here's another crackpot theory.

What if Overlord is about to kill someone - let's say Powerflash - and Whirl sacrifices himself and saves Poweflash (who looks pretty cool and now I want his toy) by playing a recording of him killing Nautilator (who sounds like Megatron). Overlord believes that it's real and then Whirl impales him with a pipe or whatever he did in #6 to Fort Max.

Another point I wanted to throw in here when someone for the Goldfinger depressurization/Alien airlock reference, was that maybe there's no air in part(s) or all of the Lost Light.  

I mean, no oxygen, no oxidization based right, right? On the other hand, while Cybertronians may communicate among themselves with an analogue of instant messaging, maybe they prefer an atmosphere for the sound of emotive speech, but my above point was in jest.

It looks like the lights around the VTOL turbines are still glowing. Also Whirl has had a huge amount of charecterization and build so far in the series. His severly messed up mental state, his deep past, the whole Cyclonus thing. Killing him off just to tell us that Overlord is powerful and dangeous would be lame since we already know that.

So it looks like Chromedome's first concern is Rewind. Aww that's sweet. I don't see him in the picture. Or am I just missing him?

For all of the horrible murder that's taking place, Ambulon looks like he's having the time of his life.

Can anybody identify all the bots up in the nosebleeds? I can see Trailbreaker and Dogfight up there, but can't readily name anybody else.

Left to right, ya got Powerflash, Aquafend, Jackpot, Trailbreaker... Blades maybe... Dogfight and Boss. All guys who have appeared on the Lost Light before now, except Blades, unless he's someone else.
