It's really difficult to nitpic, especially given how awesome this is, but something about his more 'boxy' feet isn't doing it for me. If perhaps his feet wheels could have folded up onto his ankle and out of the way and some kind of foot 'peg' could have folded down (rather than his trunk section becoming his feet simply because it sorta looks like feet) it probably would have felt more visually satisfying. As is though, again, hard to argue with the great work you've done here!
i think it,s a beautiful piece and theres absolutely nothing wrong with it... that being said i hope takara,s masterpiece prowl will be as fantastic as this one.
^ Awe come on Anemis we both know takara's version won't even come close to the awesome-ness of this....but here's too hoping !
Lol!Yeah,Jarrod's work is epic stuff.I haven't seen him on the boards posting anything since I've become a poster back in October but these work of arts make him legendary in my book.
This is how feel as well...I keep coming back to this thread to see the best Prowl ever made, knowing that HasTak can't touch it...it's the subtleness of the sculpt, the smooth lines, the proportions...that really fit the character, especially as illustrated in the old animation and comics... As much as I know the new MPs will be nice, they'll never be this sweet.
If Jarrod wasn't emulating the cartoon/G1 toy model, I might agree with you. However, the goal of this piece was for him to create a "Masterpiece" level figure that takes both modern technology and nostalgic character representations to make one figure. The wheels did not fold under nor was there a foot peg to fold out in either design. The boxy look is intentional, and I would go so far to say "indicative" for the Datsun brother design from G1 on a figure like this. Please don't misread me here either! I LIKE the fact that you're viewing all of this from the angle of a good critic! I just think that the observation isn't valid for this piece.
^ you mean as bad as takara/hasbro crushed me with the new scale of the masterpieces or more along the lines of how the new MP Sideswipe was no where near as great as OptimusTimelords custom MP Sideswipe.... Sorry to hijack this thread in anyway....this build is one of the best ever in my opinion ! Tied only with his Jazz build and OptimusTimeloed's MP Sideswipe coming in 2nd...
I was about to reply about this fact, but then..... ...SQ7 answered as well as I could have. And he's exactly right, I specifically built the foot to reflect his G1 appearance as close as possible, and I think I captured it pretty well. Not sure what you mean by a "foot peg" either. However, had I been building a new take on Prowl (like BT or Classics), yes I would have definitely built something more foot-like, and I think having the wheel fold under flat would have been cool. I'm still around, but your right, I haven't posted anything new for awhile. While working on Prowl, and a number of other projects, I amassed quite a backlog of Gundam kits in need of painting, so I've been working on those the last few months. Well, I've been incredibly impressed with Sideswipe and Soundwave, so I have no doubt their Datsun trio will be just as awesome. While I might prefer the cars to have been closer to 1/24, its just that: a personal preference. I look at Sideswipe as no less a Masterpiece than Soundwave or MP-10 for example.
less off MP builder still exist in this world and one of it is you...im in awe for your prentations...from the car mode to bot mode it is like 100% perfect and no argument at all...its represent you as botcon winner...give us more
Fantastic work my man.....I love that this post is very pic heavy and that you took the time to post gradual transformation pics to show how its done.....over all very good job on executing this custom!!!!!
There's official photos of the Takara Masterpiece #17 Prowl and #18 Bluestreak. But still i like this Custom Masterpiece Prowl.
I honestly thought these were based on the upcoming Masterpiece releases. Then I checked the dates on the posts. Well played Jarrod,,,, well played.
