If the quality is good, I'll buy...especially since there has been no reissue news and we do not know the status of the original molds. Heck, I'm hoping Wheeljack, Sunstreaker and Mirage are released also! :D

and the fact that they remade teh original prime box as well, swoop may just come in a g1 styled box. i'm on this for sure, even though i have an original. if it doesn't come in blue, i will make it so. woot.

Dinobots giftset?? OMG!! You gota be kidding, its even BETTER than Predaking giftset if they decide to make one!!!

    Err..How about Chicken Swoop? :lol

Nah..Looking at the pictures, its almost too BIG to be a WST Swoop. I'll place my bets on regular Gen 1 Swoop.

Read the quote from e3nine above & you know that Swoop's box had surfaced in the market. Its definitely not very far from all of us now, all they need to do is to decide on what/how many "variants" to produce so as to milk some of us dry. Still, I'm looking forward to seeing & hearing more of this. :D

Looks like I'm one of the only people here unhappy about this. I'm kinda sick of all the KOs and reissues, it makes the original toys worth less and it makes it harder to know if you are buying the real thing from ebay etc.

I mean sure, I buy reissues, but I think it's kind of nice having a few bots that are harder to come by, it adds something to the hobby.

Personally, if something is good/fun/interesting I'm happy if others have the chance to get and experience it.

I've got my Dinobots, and various things that haven't been reissued or have never been released in the West, but it seems selfish as all hell to want others to not have.

Greattoys from Ebay has all sorts of KO casettes for sale, sadly Graphy and Noise have been out of stock for a while now. They have no guns, but hey... :)

    I agree.

I never had Swoop as a kid. Nor any of the other Dinobots....yes, I was deprived. :p

It's not being selfish, there are rare items that I dont have, but part of the thrill for me is trying to find an original. Besides, half the time I dont know what I'm looking at with all the repros, reissues and KOs around.

Now if Swoop was to be in anime colors, that would be better, but an exact replica of the original, eh.

It's not selfish to actively want stuff to be hard/rare for people to lay hands on, so that someone else can revel in searching for it or be amongst a small group who've been able to obtain?

Prefixing a sentence with something doesn't actually make it true.

Swoop isnt rare, there is no short supply on him on ebay, so I'd hardly call him difficult to obtain. Personally I'm tired of sifting through items trying to determine if it's a reissue, a knock off, or an original. Sellers arent always honest. It's been impossible to find a legit G1 prime in good condition without wondering if its the latest china version that popped up.

    QFT.

Lots of things in life are rare or hard to find. For example, I'd like a Lamborghini, but I'm not jealous of those people who have one. Nor do I demand a cheap one because the Lamborghini makers are being selfish by pricing them far beyond my ability to afford one.

As for TFs, I have a boxed Diaclone Swoop which is the pride of my collection, but I'm not jealous of Grand Max owners, say. What's wrong with a little exclusivity? I remember when an intact G1 Prowl used to be a collection centrepiece, and now they're 2 a penny, and no one really pays them much mind. It's like Stepper, Soundblaster, and white Astrotrain. They were once holy grails due to their rarity, but mass produce them and all the mystique goes out the window.

I'd rather pay reissue/KO prices than for originals. An original Swoop in good condition will cost an arm and a leg. This is a great alternative to those of us who want the toy, but could care less when they are made. I don't buy toys for their value, I buy them because I want the toy.

funny how people go on and on with the negativity towards those arcee figures being made

yet these dino which are a COMPLETE rip off get lots of praise.

I'll just never understand the fandom.

Yes. People are pretty accepting of this (except those who piss-and-moan like kids about not being able to get a piece of metal/plastic, as if their lives depended on it.) It's wanting them to be that way that's less-than friendly.

Devaluing? Not really an issue if someone's collecting because they like stuff.

You may find it's not entirely the same group of people speaking. The fandom's quite large and varied in its views.

I imagine the responses were coloured by a few additional factors, though -- people are still waiting for an official transformable Arcee (car) toy. Swoop's already out there; more of that piece, legit or not, will mainly affect those collecting for money (who don't get a lot of widespread sympathy.)

It's probable an unofficial reissue would rule out an official reissue, as Takara have said is the case with combiners. Most of the KO combiners have been low quality. The KO Primes have been up to the standard of the originals.

Another thing which may influence judgements is that the custom Arcee was extremely expensive for what it was and the sculpting left a lot to be desired for many people.

I think this is a great thing.

    Does that really matter though?

I've spent fairly large sums of money on rare stuff only for it to be re-released.

I love them as much now as I did then, that's why I bought them.
Other people may not pay as much attention to the pieces that are no longer rare, but I'm not collecting for them, I'm collecting for me and that's all that should matter.

I understand the frustration at bootlegs being confused for the real thing though.
