No it's not, and don't take me seriously on that. The whole post was a farce

We're a bunch of adults who collect toys and argue about skill and strength levels, so clearly that is not the case for any of us to some extent or another.

What's a little disturbing is that Zmog didn't have to look anything up to provide specifics. He knows this inside and out and could probably repost this identical wording verbatum in 8 months :D

When it comes to strength tho, a lot of what we consider strength is more about power. If its how hard you hit someone or perhaps tackle/wrestle or throw, a lot of that has to do with power which includes MASS. Just because Soundwave and SteelJaw could lift or support the same size boulder, Soundwave would have a much easier time throwing or moving it as those would both have more to do with power (and subsequently MASS).

I'm not a physicist so I know many of you will be more technical and accurate, but for the masses consider class dismissed.

I would say that the strength is representative of their size class. So its a comparison of peers. A 10 of strength for a minibot does not mean he can overwhelm a 10 of strength Leader Megatron. There fixed your welcome!

Hmmm... So does that mean minibots' Courage, Skill, Rank, Speed, Fireblast, and Intelligence are also diminished?

So do you have some personal grudge against the vertically challenged?

I suggest you marry a tall girl and Wolverine would kill you. :D

EDIT: Again this is where MASS plays a role. A miniobot that is 50% of a larger bot's mass would effectively have to be twice as strong as the larger bot to EVENLY MATCHED. Of course other factors come into play but that's a fairly simplistic way of looking at it.

This is exactly the case. ( I'm a gym rat an my brother is a personal trainer so there's a lot of this talk with us ). I would say the world of Transformers would go by size class , not weight mass.

Check out at 19:50 in: Transformers (G1) Episode 42 The Autobot Run - YouTube

Rips apart the ground, throws a chunk twice his own size at Devastator--and gets his attention, when no other Autobot's attack did.

Off topic: Reminds me of that scene in Roll For It when Huffer KOs a seeker with one punch. That was badass.

On topic: I really can't wait to see this figure. This was my most wanted MP mold, since I wanted Bluestreak and Smokescreen as well.

Just in the interests of wrapping up this discussion so we can go back to MP Prowl, let me answer a few of these questions...

Then you never read Marvel's Transformers #3. He basically coldcocks his way through most of the Decepticon forces while Spider-man runs interference. It's pretty hilarious. :)

I'm not sure if the stats helped sell toys that much, but it must have been a factor. However, it seems to be more influenced by alt-mode. Gears, Brawn and Huffer are all trucks, while most of the Diaclones are actually smaller, less rugged vehicles. Likewise, for Steeljaw and Ramhorn, their alt modes are "beefy" or impressive animals. I think in Budiansky's mind, the smaller size class was only a marketing feature, not a diegetic fictional element Also, my theory is that Steeljaw's 8 in Strength is mostly in relation to his uncommon biting power. He has a pitbull bite even if his overall bodily power might be a bit less than that, and obviously he's not built for lifting things. Ramhorn on the other hand, is clearly built for smashing through things. Incidentally, Overkill and Slugfest the dinocassettes are also both incredibly strong, which was recently homaged in IDW's MTMTE, when Overkill appeared as a HUGE dinosaur in beast mode.

I reasonable question, but no. Their bios make it pretty clear that they are every bit as strong as their "larger toy" brethren. Brawn is explicitly identified as being the second-strongest Autobot (of 1984) after Optimus. Gears is said to sometimes carry his comrades on his shoulders to conserve their fuel. Pipes is said to be "among the strongest Autobots", etc...

Untrue. In the first Marvel issues, Minibots were not mini, nor were they designated as such. They matched the other bots in scale. Even Ravage is pretty consistently sized in the comics as a panther in relation to other bots, not a kittycat. Just as Soundwave is not taller than Optimus, and Blaster is not bigger than Devastator, we should not assume that toy size determines character size. The cartoon simplified this somewhat after the fact, making the Minibots smaller, which became the most common depiction. But being a head shorter than another robot doesn't necessarily mean that you have less mass or raw power, especially when the disparity in robot strength levels can be so high.

And for the Micromasters, I don't remember exactly... I think it's from the TechSpec fiction, but I seem to recall that Micromasters were originally supposed to have tiny bot modes and full-sized vehicle modes, kind of the opposite of mass-shifters like Megatron and Soundwave. I think that's a pretty cool idea actually, but it was probably easier just to make 'em tiny to highlight their gimmick.

The "10" score for Strength is the most obvious exception. However, the generally accepted logic is that 10 merely indicates the top end of the scale and beyond. A 10 is effectively "off the charts", hence why every combiner, Metroplex, Omega and Optimus all have a 10 score, despite all having explicitly cited different strength levels. In those cases, you defer to the listed strength levels as much as possible and hopefully can adjust for obvious errors.

What's sad is that you're probably right, and I probably already have. :p

    Off-topic? Sure.
Irrelevant drivel? Only as much as anything toy-related. Be nice. People are having fun here. ;)

And don't worry... as soon as we see an un-silhouetted toy image, all this OT stuff will dry up damn fast! :D
