I remember seeing this at a BotCon Hasbro toy Panel in 2009. Aaron Archer owns one of them. It was interesting. I had the RID version from KB toys.It is good that even though they cancel a line, they still release the toy in a subsequent line, even though it is a store exclusive. At least it gives people a chance to own the toy if they want it.

I'm glad that they managed to get this out, even if it wasn't in the Beast Machines line. I really like this figure. He's not perfect - he has his problems, such as being top-heavy - but he's just really neat.

I think it was a reference to the overhead spring missile launcher the figure had (which also gave him the nifty "controller mask" from the show), as well as a descriptor to differentiate it from the still shipping "normal" Megatron figure in the mega class.

Maybe it's just me... but isn't that the first time we've seen his actual bio card?

His bio is exquisite. It fills me with warmth, and yet at the same time, acute despondence; for poor under-appreciated Beast Machines Megatron will never again receive another toy.

This just reminds me of the days when Hasbro was actually dedicated to finding venues for cancelled products, even if it meant creating new personalities or back stories for them so they could be released in other lines.

Flashbacks to when Transformers first got FRUSTRATING!!!

If it wasn't for the interweb, I wouldn't know half the toys were even out.
(remember how hard it was to get Battle Unicorn?)

As big as transformers is now (and transforming into vehicles instead of animals) I think it was as far back as Beast Wars when I would regularly see a wide variety of toys on the shelf. Heck I remember Depth Charge and Ransack showing up in corner non-chain toy stores.

Now it seems like every re-launch gets us 3 versions of Optimus, Megatron and Bumblebee, that pegwarm so bad that retailers never order subsequent waves. I'm still seeing DOTM first wave toys taking up easily 2/3rds of the dedicated "Transformer space" at retailers with maybe one peg for Botshots and another for whatever line is current. So they take a single case, put it on a peg, the good stuff might consist of one or two toys for the whole case, the rest is Yellow menace and it sits there the rest of the year.

If I wasn't broke, and a new parent I'd actually be upset, right now everything I buy goes into storage until my kid is old enough to play with them (26's a good age right?):scalper :

So buying maybe one TF every 4 months (If I can find one I WANT) is about it for me these days.

I figured that. It just seemed the some were saying there were differences to the BM and RiD versions of the figure.

As for Megabolt's inclusion in RiD and the pics of him on Brave Max's body, his bio actually reflects that

It certainly helped that Robots in Disguise worked as a catch-all for anything they could come up with, and you still had a retailer (KB) who would gobble up any exclusive you offered them.

Imagine if the Generations was devoted to giving us TFA Blackout, DOTM Leadfoot and RTS Rumble.
