That is a blast from the past.
Really like that figure and glad it got released under RiD. I still have mine somewhere.
Though I'm not sure what was different between the BM and RiD versions.

I never got why Primal, who had large arms and small legs in both modes on the show, had a toy that swapped the limbs to give him big legs and small arms.

Larger versions of Silverbolt and Obsidian never made it past the design stage, and I thought Botanica was never slated for a toy?

Obsidian, at least, made it far enough that the old Transformers Convention group made tentative plans to use the mold as an exclusive.

My inclination is that it got as far as the Transtech figures we've seen, just short of getting their molds made and being "retail usable".

Botanica was NOT slated for a toy release at all.
    The packaging :p

His alt mode is the flying head from BM - but with spider legs?

    Wacky!

There was at least 2 of this guy released in the US retail.

    1. Megatron Megabolt - Same colors as the picture only difference is it was released in RiD at normal retail
    2. Megabolt - Same character but different colors, he was gold and teal? and also released in RiD but as a KB Toys exclusive. He is prone to GPS.

I have had both of these and just traded away the Megabolt a couple weeks ago.

I don't understand why this guy was supposed to be released in Beast Machine due to him actually showing up in the RiD show. Why would they release it in BM unless it was to get rid of overstock?

Sweet, and nostalgic. I'd also have said unique, but Movie Frenzy scuppered that...

    Are you SERIOUS?!!!?

Hell, that isn't much more than your average Japanese deluxe, and I can tell you there are a LOT fewer Megabolts! Somebody left a LOT of money on the table....

    WUT?
    You sound confused:

Megabolt Megatron was designed and slated for release during BEast Machines (the 1999-2001 Transformers CGI series) due to the appearance of his "Grand Mal" form in the second season.

Because Beast Machines was cut short due to various factors, he (along with Bruticus and Air Attack Optimus Primal) was left in release limbo until KB toys co-opted him as an exclusive during the end of Robots in Disguise in 2002 (while sporting standard retail packaging, he was NOT a mass retail release, though some overstock slipped out to Tuesday Morning and other liquidators). He did not appear and was NEVER in the 2001-2002 Robots in Disguise anime series.

He is NOT going to see release for Beast HUNTERS, the current Transformers branding.

I got this figure at KB back when it came out and quickly opened him so I don't even remember the packaging. I always considered him Beast Machines, since the flying head mode was in the show (minus the spider legs). Decent figure too, but needed to be WAY bigger.

Check out Shane's comics. Megabolt Megatron has a addiction to chips.

I really wished that the holdover BM toys that got tossed into RiD had been in BMs instead. I'm glad we got em, but this is so much cooler and they way it should have been. This find totally rocks!

That is a very cool find!

I absolutely love my Megabolt Megatron! He's so unique and a great representation of the character from my favorite (yep, Beast Machines is actually my favorite) series!
