Legends/Legion class is killing me. I'm rather stringent about keeping my aesthetics separate, and TFP Wheeljack and Hyperspeed Wheeljack blew that out of the water. Now I'm looking at these and wondering how they look next to the G1/Classiverse Legends. THAT will be the single deciding factor in me getting these.

After looking a little closer, it looks like there are ports on Abominus that can support weapons/arms microns. I wonder, are those 5mm? I am not sure.

Tell her it's smaller than the jewelry you'll be getting her for Christmas.

Yeah, that's the main problem I see here. I think they do it so they can fit the whole combiner into one wave. That was the story with FOC Bruticus.

    Personally I think it's stupid.

It'd only affect the price by the difference between legion and commander class. I think that's more like $5, rather than $15.

I don't see why they wouldn't be able to do that for a similar price to Powercore Combiner 5-packs.

I don't actually give a damn about G1 Abominus, and this to me seems like a decent homage. *See Rule #1*

Wouldn't it be perfect? They'd scale decently with classics, Masterpiece, whichever. They could do Covert Agent Ravage too. You could troop build Infernos, Tarantulas, Waspinators or Rattraps for all your pest needs.

What theory? The 3rd party and main stream markets are two very different beasts. That's just a fact.
Third parties whole thing, for the most part, is to make what the old school fans want. Which they can do, because they're only target is the old fans who grew up on the original toys. Also why their prices are so high.

Hasbro doesnt exist to make the fans happy. no, they dont. They make toys to sell to children based on cost and restrictions that apply to them. So when they do end up making something like this with a little homage to a combiner team that only the hardcore fans recognize, it's kind of a cool little nod.

Am I trying to say that this thing is the greatest toy ever? No. But it's a cool little thing for what it is.
To get angry that it isn't what you specifically want is like someone handing you a cupcake and you demanding that you deserve a three layer one.

Or they're just defending their subjective tastes based on objectivity.

One problem I have with it, which I pointed out in the coloured thread, is that it lookslike the terrorcon acrobatic display team, it looks a bit too obvious that hungrr has his arms raised in the air and the other two are just holding onto his arms with their legs.

What we need is something like these:

That can clip into his fists to make shoulder armour, or be gripped from the other end to form swords.

If Target is getting this as an Exclusive.....wouldn't it be great if Walmart get the Technobots as their Exclusive?
Everyone keeps complaining about this being G1 or not....or its too small or not.
My only grips are the amount of replenishment that the stores are doing....and PRICE. The fact that Hasbro is still making TFs is a blessing. Over the Christmas holiday, in all the stores I've been at, TFs area was usually the only empty section of the toy area. Most of the other toys were usually still full. Even now look at the shelves. I'm sure you'll find the TF area sparsely filled.

I forget who put up the altered pic to show us the colors, but thank you. It looks really good! Granted, I would prefer all the limbs to be the same (I can't help it... I like teams to have team colors) but this does well enough.

Still, every time I see different colored limbs I think "Go go Power Rangers"!

The question that flashed through my mind at the moment is what will they repaint this as (and you know they will repaint this, that goes without saying). I honestly can't think of another team that would work with those forms.

...And the market for older Legends and other Cyberverse figures just exploded because some people need their stuff to be 'in scale'.

Watch the prices on the HFTD/RTS Legends go up now.

It's happened before as well. As a kid I thought a lot of later G1 figures were disappointing, by the standards set with the original Diaclone-era figures.

I think people were similarly disappointed with the shift from RID to Armada, when posability and realistic altmodes went out the window.

I remember when Alternators and Masterpiece Optimus first came out. I was so impressed I could hardly believe that was even possible. As is often the case, what was once ground-breaking becomes the standard by which later figures are judged.

Since then it's been up and down. I never expected a movie figure as accurate as ROTF Leader Prime, and yet the final product was as impressive as it was frustrating. It probably created unrealistic expectations for later movie figures.

We have seen what Hasbro are capable of. And yet sometimes it feels like they can do better. I feel like when they disappoint me, it is partly because I hold their talents and abilities in such high regard.
