TF: Prime Deicidium and Desecrated Vambrace
    Update February 3, 2013

When the episode aired, there was a flood of requests for a new forearm and an evil blade for
TF: Prime Powerizer Megatron. I am really glad that I was able to do this service and create these
models for you guys and I hope you like them! The models have been available for a few weeks
already, but it is only now that I managed to sit down and paint them up so that you can see how
well they can look coloured instead of white.

The Deicidium is a massive sword. Shown here is my personal model with the hilt printed in White Strong Flexible,
painted black with some silver drybrushing. The blade is printed in Violet Purple Strong and Flexible Polished,
and the colour is solid and bright. The blade's surface is nice and smooth as well, except for a few scraggly
lines running across it as an artefact of the printing process. I like how those lines turn out though!
They really tied the blade together.

Megatron holds onto the sword via a 5mm handle. Admittedly the blade is so large that that figure's weak hands
sometimes cannot support the weight, so if you're worried about that problem you can get the alternative
shorter blade instead. Also, lighter materials (like WSF) work better as well.

The hilt also has an auxiliary 5mm peg on the side so that you can store the sword on Megatron's back.

The sword model came out first, and it's only a matter of time that the pressure was on to build
that forearm as well. I was debating if I should go all the way and build a completely show accurate
forearm, but cooler heads (and wallets) prevailed so I settled on a simpler rendition.

The Vambrace comes in one piece with all the layers of armour weaving into each other, and pegs onto Megatron's
dual 5mm forearm ports. I've printed mine in White Strong Flexible and gave it a paint-it-up. In retrospect, I found
the main difficulty is trying to achieve that deep red colour as Strong Flexible is very porous, causing the colours to
wash out. It was after 3+ coats of it that I got it to look the way it should.

It is not designed to work anywhere else other than bot mode, but I found it could look cool perched on top Megatron's
jet mode. Unfortunately, the Deicidium doesn't go anywhere in that mode, however.

Shown below are additional shots of the second blade I have, now is the 110 mm version printed in Frosted Ultra Detail.
I gave it a good sanding and cleaning before airbrushing it with a combination of clear and fluorescent paints to simulate its
    appearance in the show.

And at this point you'll ask," Where can I get these?" I'd reply, "Well..."

The Deicidium hilt is available here at:
The Deicidium Part A on Shapeways.

And the 136mm Deicidal blade is available here at:
The Deicidium Part B (136 mm) on Shapeways.

You can also get the 110mm long alternative blade instead:
The Deicidium Part B (110 mm) on Shapeways.

    Lastly, the Desecrated Vambrace:
    The Desecrated Vambrace on Shapeways.

These models has been tested successfully in different colours of Strong Flexible, and that material is highly recommended. The Deicidium blades have also been tested successfully in Frosted Ultra Detail. That is also recommended.

Comments, critiques and fish friends welcome!

Fantastic work as always. Those lines on the sword actually look really well, they make it look like waves of energon are pulsing out from the hilt.
Damn wallet is going to fell the hit I think.

Ah man yes! I'm catching up on these episodes, and I literally JUST watched this one yesterday. Really nice work fakebuster (on the pieces, not on directing the episode). I love it that you give to the community by taking the time to create these to share. Thanks, really.

These look awesome. If you have issues with the paint on these in WSF, Citoria had a good tip:

Delta Ceramcoat all purpose sealer. I used it on his star sabre and it made it tons easier to cover. It makes a nice smooth finish to paint over. I also put a very light coat on your design of the Meg's arm cannon and believe me, it made things tons easier. I got mine at Michael's for about $3-4 for 8 oz., which is huge.

posted a pic of the bottle for the ceramcoat. Multiple thin layers really smooth out WSF. 1 thin layer seals the WSF but leaves the texture. There is a night and day difference after a coat of this on WSF. WSF seems to almost "soak up" paint, but this gives it a hard coating that really helps a lot.

I apologize in advance if this is thread derailment. My Megs w/fakebusker cannon has his own thread.

Hi guys! So I know that a lot of you would prefer not to paint these models. It's fortunate Shapeways has provided a nice black and purple dye option so that we can pull off the Deicidium.

However, I'd like to express that nothing beats rolling up your sleeves and painting stuff yourself. This is the second blade I have (the 110 mm version) printed in FUD and I was able to sand it down and give it a nice glowing paintjob to emulate the appearance in the show. What do you think?

    Man that looks beautiful!

Do you airbrush your works, hand brush or what? Also are you using acrylics, enamels or something else?

After looking at it, you're right! I hate to set my eyes on it now. Does anyone else want it? I'll hate to pass this horrid thing on to you :(

Actually, I'm curious. Which would be cheaper? I'd think the AM version would have more play value though, but this definitely is more show accurate.

I use an airbrush, with Mr Color Lacquers and a matte coat. Thanks for your comment!

I have an airbrush and Mr. Color too! If I'm lucky, I'll come close to what you did there.
