You know what? If MT starts releasing their Computron this year, I think I'm going to have to get a third job, just to cover the 3rd party figures coming out this year. I mean, Menasor, Predaking, whatever the Throttlebot combiner is, and a possible Computron? Seriously?

Motormaster better be amazing. The first fig was very G1. Still a Lamborghini, and didn't have a hood for a chest. But Deadend has almost nothing of his G1 self. Not his alt mode nor face nor transformation scheme.

Reminds me of Uranos--first fig was very G1. Then they went completely NOT G1 for Silverbolt.

I canceled Uranos because they strayed further and further from G1 as they went along. Now FP seems to be doing the same--Breakdown was very G1. Wildrider a bit less so. Now Dragstrip even less and Deadend has nothing besides his colors.

Dear 3P companies--please be consistent. Don't show a very G1 fig then make all the others a big departure from that. It creates expectations then disappointment.

IDWs take on drag strip was the design I liked the most from those repeatedly posted pictures and this looks nothing like it. The other three are all good, not amazing though.

Back where we started then, still waiting for someone to show the key piece of this set, there's a lot riding on it now since the individual limb bots certainly aren't worth £200 on their own.

Before the usual suspects pipe up, yes, I know that you have seen the pictures and no I won't take your word for it, I'll judge for myself whenever they finally find their way onto here.

 

Nope, I think he's right, they are primarily homaging the Micromasters Growl (Growl = "Warcry") and Fireshot (Fireshot = "Flameblast"). The names, colors, and head sculpts are pretty clear tip-offs. Plus the fact that they were sold as standalone bots without combiner parts.

The fact that they can do double duty as Battle Gaia members is a good (and probably deliberate) bonus as well, though.

Warcry was a slight homage to Growl (File:G1-toy Growl.jpg - Transformers Wiki) and Flameblast was to Fireshot (File:G1-ROC-toy Fireshot.jpg - Transformers Wiki)

People just say Leyland and Shuttle Gunner simply because they're both red SUVs and white space shuttles.

I love decepticon combiners! These are so bought!! Looks like we wont be experiencing bruticus type delays with this one. I love this strategy of putting up preorders a few weeks before release

Come on guys, use those noggins - they are double homages. You don't think it was a coincidence that FansProject chose to homage two characters that coincidentally share the same colors as Swindle and Blast-Off's Battle Gaia mold-mates, did you?  

 

I'll save my opinion until I see the fully combined MENASOR, since that is how I will have him displayed!

(But for the record STUNTICONS is the coolest group name ever, plus matched with DECEPTICON whips = winning!!)

 

Wow! Truly beautiful looking figures. I'm preordering now but my only gripe with Fans Project: why is so much stuff coming out so fast? Luckily, I've been selling tons of stuff on eBay and budgeting for stuff like this but my wife might not understand!

 

But, then what would we do as transformers fans?

 

I think they look like an amazing set of guys. They, for me, will be my definitive Stunticons. They to me look closer to the Stunticons than the Hercbots look like Constructicons. Just as much as Generations Kup looks like his G1 self. I don't get all the hate.

 

I want reprolabels to do a set of Animated Stunticon logos to go on these guys.

 

Dammit now I want that too. Haven't thought of it.

Honestly, Im disappointed in Dead End and Drag Strip. their so neo (ugh) and Dead end looks so Hasbroish with those shoulders and fold down car hood. He looks like legends Wheelie. I hope someone comes out with a set of G1 (cartoon) heads.

 

I love the Stunticons and there has been a lot of focus on the lately, my favorite so far is Breakdown the rest are alright, Dragstrip looks kinda weird but I'm not gonna cast judgement until i see more pictures of all of them, and i can't wait to see menasor!

Agreed Fansproject is releasing so much, so fast it's hard to keep up :/

 

I agree. Just changing the heads will like me like them a lot more.
