I know it's for hype and all that, but I REALLY wish they would have kept a bomb-dropper like that under wraps. The reactions would have been fantastic in my live chat during the episode, although after the revelation of the two nobodies from that Hasbro conference being the subjects of the S2 finale, the fact Alicorn Sparkle surfaced in suspiciously similar ways was almost a given. That, and I guess the HUB confirmed it when they began running "Coranation Concert" sweepstakes adds and Twilight was literally the ONLY possible choice (because no way in hell was Cadance having a baby THAT soon in the show, because if she WAS then we'd be going into borderline non-marital mating ala Baby Cakes). And goddamnit I may or may not now need to buy that damn Alicorn Sparkle toy that promotional pics have seen. I only hope she never comes single packed, because I can justify not buying her if she has some kind of playset thing ala SA and Cadance. But if she DOES come single packed, then my hunt for pony will resume.
Who said that's the twist? We'll find out that it was secretly Chrysalis the entire time, using her mind control spell on Twilight to manipulate and trick her or something. EDIT: My Facebook exploded with pissed off fans
Wait, actually. Spoiler Remember that "Sort of Shattered Glass-ish" episode synopsis? What if this is just that version of Twilight Sparkle? I can work with that. Ow, well. I'm still mad as fuck until it's further explained or such.
I'm really hoping the whole "Status Quo is God" thing will kick in and she'll be back to normal next season. I like Twilight, I don't want her to become some Mary Sue pony.
Because being a pony who can mimic any spell she sees and is one of two known who can teleport means she's totally not.
I'm going to miss Twilight being a librarian. I was expecting this to happen, but more like a series finale/movie kind of deal. Honestly, I'd rather they make Derpy a princess.
I'm honestly excited for this, no matter which way it goes. But, I DO have a feeling that, should that form be permanent, it's gonna be the Derpy debacle all over again, but it'll be a shithurricane instead of a shitstorm.
Hey, guys, you know those really old full color concept drawings of both Carousel Boutique and Sweet Apple Acres in ruins? Think about it. We had an imagine spot where the CMC predict that if Big Mac and Cheerilee get married, everything goes the hell because of reasons. What if Twilight has a similar imagine spot in the S3 finale about what would happen if, as Alicorn Sparkle, she leaves her friends?
That would be nice. If they wanted to, they could show Twilight imagining what would happen if she accepted the Princess role, discovering that, due to being immortal, she was going to have to go through the pain of watching her friends wither and die one by one, while she remains youthful. Ultimately, it would cause her choosing to step down from the mantel, and staying with her friends. That's how I would have written the episode, but I fully expect them to write it like "PRINCESS!!! YAY!!!!". Then again, I thought the Royal Wedding finale was going to be all cutesy, instead of...you know...f***ing awesome. We'll just have to wait and see. Who knows? Maybe they have a trick up their sleeves. I shall remain cautiously optimistic.
Or, as somebody else on another thread has pointed out, this could essentially be the ponified version of "It's a wonderful life" in episode format. I don't think I need to explain how.
I read it. Still doesn't take away the depressing implications of having her be a Princess. Unless Twilight's all like "I have a immortality spell! IMMORTAL PONIES FOR ALL!!!"
DARN IT!!! More than a month ago I had with me a picture of an upcoming MLP playset. I thought it was Princess Cadence on it, but after seeing the EW article only realized it was Twilight all-along.
