I think it was the fact that they had to combine season 2 and the original season 3 in order to pull off Beast hunters. Thus the season was left with one shot episodes mainly. This resulted in some underwhelming moments here and there. I personally wasn't a fan of the concept of the relic hunts, despite that I did find Triage highly enjoyable though. The season wasn't the best but the finale was pretty much its best episode in my eyes. I am really excited for Beast Hunters. And I'm pretty sure there wont be any Cybertron in the next season given that it is dead.

Triage was good. But I think that just makes the whole thing more irritating, that they obviously have the capacity to make the one shot relic hunts enjoyable and unique-ish, but they didn't. It was always just a race. A relic shows up, everyone runs to get it. No variation, no cunning on either side. Just who's faster. Boring.

I agree a relic hunt episode even written as an almost stand alone episode can be a good episode.

What kind of bugged me about the relics was that only the Decepticons and Smokescreen seemed willing to use them. Putting the relics into storage after the Autobots got their hands on them kind of defeated the purpose of introducing them. Starscream using the armor was a nice example of how using relics could have shaken up the usual routine of the fights on the show.

The Autobots probably thought it was best if they kept the relics far way from any con in case they lost them or had it taken from them.

But yeah Smokescreen had the right idea. That's why i like him. He thinks outside the box.

They both have good and bad qualities, how about we leave it at that.

So far I've only seen about half of S2, but I see nothing wrong with it. I've enjoyed it.

Except there is no real excuse for that. Judging from what we know of toy production timelines and show production timelines, they would have known about the forced jump to Beast Hunters WELL before they were beyond the point of no return with the scripts.

And even THEN, most of S2 before Bulkhead's not-actually-permament injury is forgettable because NOTHING that occurred in those episodes has any sort of impact on the status quo at the end of the season. The relic hunt wasn't even NECESSARY since all they did was point to the Star Saber, which honestly they could have just had the Matrix do the same damn thing and free up a LOT of episodes.

Season 1 established that nobody could get back to Cybertron when the Space Bridge went bye-bye. Where does part of the S2 opener happen? ON CYBERTRON.

Season 2 establishes that without the Cyber Keys and the lock thingy, Cybertron has no way of being resurected. Guess what I'm betting S3 will allow to happen on Cybertron.

We really don't have any evidance of that either. For now it's just speculation on our part. We usually get a lot of what happened behind the scenes after the show had run it's course like what we got with the Allspark Almaniac after TFA ended. Why don't we wait until we get more discoveries of what happened behind the scenes by either seeing if they'll release an Art of TFP that explains what happened during the process of both seasons or better yet ask the writers personally through email or at conventions at why they made certain choices to do things that not a lot of fans liked in the season first before calling them off?

For one thing they might have actually did planned to have Bulkhead dead or at least be crippled for the rest of the season but then Hasbro might have said not to. Yes I know there's no evidance backing it up it's mearly a guess but still seeing how Hasbro now has more control over many of its franchises it wouldn't be too surprising if it had more control in many of its shows then in the past since they made the Hub. The writers may not be pleased about how it turned out just as many of us are.

    I enjoyed Season 2 also.

People hate because it gives the pessimists something to whine about.

Also, people who complain tend to be louder than those who don't. In other words, welcome to the internet.

Some people hate TFP for some valid reasons or just some personal preferences so it's not fair to label all people who aren't fans of the show like that. However like you said there are people who do tend to complain just to be heard sadly.

Oh, that I agree with. But there are people who just want to put the hate on for attention. Those posting with valid reasons for not liking it are not lumped in with my post. Probably should have clarified that sooner. Ah well.

It's okay I know what you're trying to say. And yes like you said some people just do it to get attention.

Season 2 has had a few good parts here and there. Smokescreen definitely. But alot of my complaints fall squarely on the shoulders of Optimus Prime. If he stepped up and acted as a true leader and father figure to the troops, it could change the entire dynamic of the show. But instead he's a boring, distant, unhappy wall of epicness. I thought his stint as Orion Pax would bring back forgotton feelings and emotions and help him reclaim alot of what he lost in the war. But instead, magic reset button goooo!

TFP gives me a sense of wasting my time watching certain expanses. That I do not like.

I think you also have to differentiate between minor complaints and major complaints. There are some things I don't like about Transformers Prime, but I'm not going to miss the new episodes if I can find them on the internet and then re-watch the episodes again in hi-def when they are on Netflix.

So you can really enjoy a show even if you fuss about it not being perfect.

Such wise insight, and not condescending at all...

Except, that's clearly not the case. But don't let me stop you. Go ahead and ignore all of the valid, numerous complaints, so you can preach on about how not liking things(that you like, I'd wager) is a bad thing.

I've been cherry picking episodes on Netflix and so far there are quite a few I've enjoyed. That is very different from the first season where I had no desire to watch anything again. It's still a damn shame we didn't get a season of Optimus working for the Decepticons though.

I always like how any argument about the quality of a Transformers show/movie starts as an argument about the quality of the actual program and then by page 8 or so always just turns into "H8rs Gone H8" BS.

After finishing S2, my only real gripe that hasn't been discussed to death is the "Plot Armor", shots bouncing off a character only to become a deadly threat later (or going completely through someone). Insecticons could go toe to toe with the heaviest of hitters one episode and then are sliced in half by an angry Arcee. Inconsistency is what almost all of the complaints are about.

Now back to the regularly scheduled pissing contest.

Season two had some great individual episodes, but as a whole it was lacking. If we're to use allegory, it's a delicious soup served in a bowl made of hornets.

I was thinking that Optimus wouldn't work for the Decepticons too long because the writers would go with the idea that Prime's goodness and Megatron's evil will always rise to the surface. Just didn't seem like Megatron would be able to hide the truth for too long.

But I did have my hopes up that we'd end up with Optimus loosing his memory for good so that he would have to learn how to be the great leader all over again instead of things just going right back to the status quo. In a way it almost seemed as if they were sitting things up for him to become the Transformers Animated version of the character.
