^I concur about the MF line. I was never compelled to buy Lego sets (as an adult) until the MF series came along. I simply love it. I'm somewhat sad to see it end, but on the other hand, happy I won't have to chase down any future sets. That being said, I still don't even have all of the sets that were initially released as I'm missing the Zombie Graveyard and Crazy Scientist. As far as I'm concerned though, those two are ancillary as they really wouldn't work in my display. Since I already have the Frankenstein mini-figure, I really have no need for the CS set and, as a substitute for the ZG, I utilized the Halloween Accessory set which has a singular gravestone and some creepy crawlies for added effect. All in all, I'm pleased with how it turned out.
I've been slowly getting into it, but I have so many interests that are Lego themes that it can be quite expensive, so I've been selective. I've purchased some of The Hobbit and LOTR sets which are fantastic, as well as a few of the Superheroes line. Just this morning I bought the Batwing Battle Over Gotham City set because it as far as I can tell is a Lego interpretation of the Batman 1989 movie. I can't wait for the new Bat vs Bane tumbler to hit stores near me as well
One Ring to Rule them All, One Ring to Find Them... One Ring to Rule them All, and in the Darkness Bind THEM! Riddles for the Ring however includes two, that's TWO ONE RINGS, MWAHAHA! *Lightning Crackles and Thunder Claps* By the time I've bought every set with a Ring I'm going to wind up with enough that even a LEGO Mount Doom won't be able to destroy them all.
I adore the Monster Fighter sets. My boyfriend is heavily into all things Lego, but I've only just recently gotten into them with Harry Potter. And now I've started an HP Lego collection. I don't know if I'll move beyond HP. I like the TMNT stuff, but the BF has already started on those.
Oh man let us know when you get it done and how you like it If you wouldn't mind snapping a few pictures it would be greatly appreciated. It looks like an awesome build. I would love to get it now but with so much hitting in the next few months I really have to limit myself in regards to my toy budget.
Built the Star Slicer kit today, it's the preying mantis-style large bug from the new Galaxy Squad sets, and the one that provokes the most comparison to Starship Troopers. It's a very nice set, probably the biggest and meanest looking alien vehicle/bug until the summer sets come out, they look to have a big queen-style bug in that lineup. I'm liking the aesthetic of this line so far, and I've ordered the Vermin Vaporizer, which is a large solid-looking truck set that houses a small mech in the back. The big mantis isn't too poseable in the legs, but the front arms swing around and pose nicely, and the head can pivot a bit. There's a launcher at the front, and one of the unique trans-purple cocoon pod things that attaches on the back. Nice use of SNOT in the build, and captures the preying mantis shape nicely. The Squad set is also very nice, a small truck with a human driver and a removeable flying 'chair' with dual guns and android pilot. The Swarm Interceptor set is the other Galaxy Squad set I have so far, it's very good as well. Nice use of a pivoting front section and poseable wings along with a cleverly hidden launcher in the back. Tim "toy geek"
Definitely will do! Just finished part of Ivy's holding cell. Some of the details on this thing are amazing. There's a broken window that's very cleverly designed.
Just finished building the new Arkham set and I have to say that this one blows the first one away. While the first one was nice, it just seemed like it was a bunch of free standing cells. This one is definitely more unified. And you definitely get the feeling that Dr. Quinzel runs the show in this set. The intricacies of this set are far more detailed too. I love the two gargoyles and the angels. Hell, even the broken window design is brilliant. Don't know why I never noticed it before but Mr. Freeze's cell in the tower is pretty awesome. Oh and the biggest surprise is that the building can be reconfigured so it's not one flat building. It can be reconfigured so that it's more of a three sided building. I'll take pics if I have time tomorrow.
This Arkham set being spoke of is sounding more and more awesome. I swear there's a lot of the Batman: Arkham Asylum video game influence incorporated into the set as well... (Robin, Harley Quinn's office) I know I hate that I missed out on the minfigs of the previous Batman line and really would like to get him and the main villains. Some of them I like better in the first run and others are better in the second though I notice.
I'm kinda surprised that they included the Penguin in the new Arkham set instead of someone like Freeze. But I guess that's because Freeze is already in the Arctic Batman set. The Penguin just seems out of place in the Arkham set as he doesn't have a cell while Freeze does. Actually, I take that back. I forgot about the character panels that can be easily switched for the two generic cells in the asylum. Again, I'll try and post pics tomorrow to show everything I'm taking about.
That's what I was thinking as well, although with the long sleeves, that Robin kind of looks as much like comics Damian as he does Arkham City Tim.
Reading about the Arkham Asylum posts from Ron makes me want to collect Batman as my first foray into Lego collection. I've been eyeing the Super Hero Batwing Battle Over Gotham and the Batmobile w/Two Face set. Getting the AA with these two sets would make a nice collection. I am a Marvel guy but Batman lego sets seems to be a better deal than The Avengers.
Well, Lego doesn't really ever put tampos on the minfig arms, so it can really be either or. Though isn't Damien still using the red/green/yellow color combo on his costume or was that changed with New 52? Would have loved to have seen LEGO attempt an AA style Scarecrow with the 'Freddy Krueger' fear glove. If they would just give us sets with Flash, Green Lantern (comic, not movie), and Martian Manhunter we'd have the core 7 Justice League in LEGO form.
Must admit that I hadn't considered pairing them with the Jet... As for lines to follow, I started with City and now I'm onto Star Wars and LOTR/The Hobbit.
