It's not that Cobra-La was a horrible idea, it's that it was HORRIBLY executed. Yes I know some of you want to use respond to this and turn-a-phrase with the word "executed."

Anyways, if they change things about the orgin and relationship of CobraLa to Cobra Commander this could kick @$$.

Cobra-La actually makes more sense in the realm of Transformers than GI Joe, IMO. Ancient, technologically advanced aliens? Yeah.

I agree with you, but those aren't humans. They're Cobra-La Royal Guards ... waaay stronger than humans (at least, during their first appearance on the Joe movie ... on the final battle, they were just average)

I agree that Cobra-La was poorly executed. Kinda wish Hama had written something about Cobra-La on the comics, so there would be some form of cool oficial Cobra-La fiction. But the idea behind Cobra-La itself, isn't a bad one.

Count me in for volume IV!

Hell I wish Hamma had written the whole movie so that we could avoid things like this:

Cobra gets their collected @$$es handed to them and they're trapped in the middle of the arctic (or something, I don't remember). Cobra Commander says "I know where we can go for safety." Leads them to some secret local. Is confronted by the same people he knew would be there. He immediately freaks out and tries to run away.

    Made perfect sense to me.

I've read all three of the previous volumes, and I liked 'em all--at least to some extent. The second one wasn't that good, actually, but it's needed for continuity purposes. The first was a good take, and the most recent one kicked serious butt. Once they get this Cobra-La/Unicron line over and done, though, I do kinda hope they give this one a rest...

I'll be getting it of course. I, for one, still like Unicron.

I'm looking forward to this as well. It should be a fun ride if the last one is anything to go by.

Lets see, end of the 2nd Joe/TF crossover, Cobra-La folk are in Mindbender's lab and one holding a slab with Unicron's mug on it, end pages of the 3rd we see Cobra-La and Unicron and Dr. Mindbender in Cobra-La digs. I think it was a given that this would be the next tale. (And actually though how corny Cobra-La is, the comic form art here rocks for them and I bet money they see Unicron as a god for them in this)

Honestly I have been waiting on this bringing the two Movie villians together as a combined force, easily could picture for the G1 haters that are Beast Wars lovers will finally get some organic TFs via Cobra-La creature vehicle things. (though hopefully not see the seekers as those jet things, sweeps maybe but them no.) and this is what I've always been curious about too. If did the pairing what will these guys get and what 'cons will turn into those things.

So me, I'm ready and have been waiting.

I don't even remember the first two...but I just got done reading Art of War (yeah I know I am a bit behind). So I hope it is better than that, there were some ok parts, but I thought it was goofy for the most part.

Remember that CC only took them to Cobra-La after he allowed Serpentor to be captured by Joe. He probably had hoped that Cobra-La would help him get back control of Cobra. CC then ran away because Pythona appeared and told him that he was in trouble with Golobulus. He no doubt then put two and two together about how and why Serpentor had been created, and tried to escape. It made perfect sense to me too.

This should be very interesting. But just so I am not totally lost. I should probably read volumes 2 and 3. I have the TPB of the first volume (even have an authographed copy of issue 1, Cobra Commander and Megatron Cover).

Didn't Don pitch a similar ideal to dreamwave but they opted to go with the mick/lee one instead? I know it involved unicron/cobra la..there was a promo peice on the net somewhere. I think that would of been the series Don had in mind to use the rolling thunder optimus and denomantor destro.

    Hey guys!
I usually try to avoid posting, cuz i want you to feel free to complain about me...but, ONE THING I have to correct...
This is not based on anything Don Figueroa pitched to us. Don pitched something that was pretty much just our first series, except Prime was a Rolling Thunder. We then hired him to do my Cobra-La story. Hasbro turned it down at the time, though Don did a design for Galvatron, and posted it all over the place. I rewrote my story and ended up with Art of War, which Don begain drawing. He bailed on me and ran over to IDW, so we hired the amazin' Ng. Hasbro approved the Cobra-La sotry a few months ago, and we're back with my original story, albeit significantly altered.
Just had to clear that up.

I saw the Previews listing for this yesterday, down in my local comics shop.
I hate Cobra-la, but at the same time, I really want to see how its treated here, since I have been waiting since the end of TF vs GI Joe pt 2...
I had heard initially Hasbro pulled the plug on the Cobra-la stuff immediately after that last issue of series 2 was released, explaining why part 3 was The Art of War.
Honeltly, I am not gonna judge it till its in my hands, and I have readit all the way thru.
This is a series that's definately going in my hold box at the comic shop.

Hey Tim, Sorry if you think I bailed out on you guys on J/TF3, my contract WAS already up at the time . I waited for actual comic work for 6 months, but there was alot of delays with the approvals .
when the actual script did get finalized it was a completely different story!(I wanted to do the Cobra-la story:(  ) and I was told that the book was'nt going to be seen til 2006! until IDW gets to do their initial launch first.
when IDW contacted me to do BW it originally was going to be a one-shot. and I had to turn it down because I was still under contract. I figured they would have gone with another illustrator but they waited for me!
so when my contract expired, I figured I'll do BW first and still have plenty of time to do J/TF afterwards. and I even went to SDCC and talked to Josh about it in person. he told me to go ahead with BW but I knew he was mad at me.:(
It surprised me that you guys went ahead earlier than I was told but you guys did the right choice with Joe Ng.
everything turned out fine for everybody I think, Joe did a great job on the book, and I got to do BW as a mini-series. win-win IMO.
