Most of the complains I heard about this movie so far are fucking stupid, so I tend to ignore them.

Disappointed at the scale. They keep talking about great sizes but stuff in the trailer don't look much larger than Godzilla etc.

Get outta town. Really? So I guess the possibility of Mr. Toro making a Portal film isn't that much of a stretch, if Valve even want a a film based on one of their IP's.

Apparently Del Toro is a big gamer. I wish his Insane video game wasn't cancelled.

I'll let M. Bison summarize my feelings.

You...you do realize that Godzilla is usually anywhere between 150 and 300 feet tall, more or less, right?

I'd say that having GIANT FRIGGIN' MAN-OPERATED MECHS THAT ARE IN EXCESS OF 150 FEET TALL is plenty big enough. :lol  In fact, I sort of like how they appear to be slightly smaller than the monsters they're fighting. A 200 foot robot vs. a 250 foot monster makes the odds that much better (or worse, depending on your stance).

So let me get this straight: one morning Guillermo Del Toro woke up and said "Heck! I wanna do a giant robot movies that battle giant monsters"? Because that is excellent with me! XD Seriously, that trailer looks spectacular and I already shared it with friends and they all really excited about it! :D  Its like their inner kids suddenly pop out and remember the old Godzilla toon and those cheap Robot B-movies. XD
Caught me by surprise, I really have to say that. Wasnt expecting a movie like this to happen soon. Its more than welcome! Bring the monsters and the giant robots!!!!

The trailer seems to suggest that the pilots are mentally linked when in the robot, so I'm guessing that's probably the case.
The purpose, I would assume, makes the robots responce time higher then it would be with just one person.

I actually hope it is, case that seems like a rather unique take on the whole giant piloted robot concept.

I could totally see Del Toro being the right guy for a Half Life movie.

I like this, too. Especally the idea of higher response time.

There is no right guy for a Half-Life movie, because unless the whole thing is goign to be a POV of Freeman, it's not going to feel like Half-Life.

That's a pretty flawed way of looking at it. That's like saying you can't make a comic book movie without the screen flipping like the pages of a book.

Half Life has a bigger universe then just being a first person shooter. And I could see Del Toro's style working well as a translation of that world into a movie.

Kind of reminds me of Mazinkaiser, that could injure the pilot, if they didn't know how to pilot it. First time Koji used it, he passed out, causing Kaiser to go on a rampage, and beat the snot out of Great Mazinger.

Be nice if Play Arts can release toys from this movie. I'd love to own a 12" version of these Jaegers with super articulations.

Just a heads-up for all y'all: the Pac Rim toy rights are being handled by Striker Entertainment, who've done similar licensing for The Hunger Games, The Walking Dead, and Angry Birds.

In other words, NECA is the company most likely to get the license. Unless Striker does deals involving more mainstream toy companies, which I'm not sure about.

Not even remotely comparable. The page flipping wouldn't affect how the story is told.

Maybe it's just that even consideirng the idea of a Half-Life movie while the series is still incomplete is wrong for me.

Interesting... Forgive my ignorance, but does that mean we'll have good quality merchandise from them? I've never heard of them before (or seen their other work), so I'm basically wondering if we're looking at Hasbro/Marvel quality or Bandai/DC crap. :lol

I just hope that Revoltech comes out with some figures for it. :D  That'd be awesome. And hopefully some lower-priced, more typical "$15 action figures".

I suppose not if it was scene to scene. But I was more suggesting every other 5 to 10 seconds.

I can see your point there. Maybe when Valve finally gets to finishing their story, then Del Toro could make a movie based in it.

Well, funny enough, NECA are the ones who made the recent Gordon Freeman figure and are working on Portal 2 and Team Fortress 2 toys.
They've also done a lot of movie franchise stuff, like Robo Cop, Aliens and Predators and recently Prometheus.

NECA figures are pretty great. They look alot better than they pose, but they're not statues. They're like McFarlane except not shit.
