Nrrrgh. Already saving for second honeymoon this July in Orlando. Unless I find someone to drive cross-country with... no. Airfare is too rich for my blood this year since layoffs had me change jobs. :\ I'll leave it to my usual con-buddies to do my shopping for me.
If it's a California Botcon I am there, gotta start saving up though! Though a Machine Wars set sounds interesting, I would have loved a Diaclone/Microman/E-Hobby based set though!
I had a awesome time at botcon 09 pasedena,we stayed at my girlfriends sisters house in rancho palos verdes,went to universal studios a few times,Disneyland ,Venice beach and Santa Monica ,Hollywood ,the convention was sweet too,I never saw that many transformers in front of me before or since.
well i'm there. San Diego has great weather, and i have friends who i'm rolling with from here. I should have no problem getting the week off. Just gotta find someone to cover for me which shouldn't be an issue. Fiancé already ok'd me to go with out her. I think she had way to much fun last year... flights right now arent bad either. Booking it with Southwest to get the 2 free checked bags for the possible haul i may have to return home with!
Majority of the dealers are located out in Cali. Just like the majority of Joe dealers are on the East Coast. Hence why Botcon stays more on the WEst Coast and Joecon stays on the East coast. Botcon does better over on the West Coast Joecon does better on the East Coast. Dealers don't want to haul their stuff cross country..
Well the Town and Country is a great venue for this, and definitely has the room to accommodate such an event. I've been to a few events there, but I don't recommend staying there, far too expensive. However, it's located in Hotel Circle, so there will be more than enough places to choose from to stay. It's also in Mission Valley, so there will be plenty of places to eat, and the trolley line runs right through there so getting downtown into the Gaslamp at night will be awesome for those who like the night life. This is going to be much better than anything Pasadena offered. Wish I were going, but timing is not right.
For starters I for one am in no way in love with FunPub. Most of us go to botcon for friends and that will always make a convention better. But just reading the first few pages of this thread it seems your stalking it and just being a negative nancy. We have all been through the Credit card debacle and the convention isn't perfect but it's what we have and we can deal with it or not go. If you don't want to give the Evil Funpub your hard earned money then don't. Go find something more constructive to do because it seems you put all your free time into hate mongering. WTF!!!! Every other year it is out in California. This will be another botcon I will miss. I use this as a family vacation. Does any one know how hard it is to bring two little kids under the age of 3 to a convention like this and or the expence to fly from Upstate New York to Califorina Great Work Funpub....
WOW all you guys have gone ape shit crazy we are talking about plastic crack. i for one live in Arkansas which Botcon WILL NEVER come her and i am fine with that i dont mind going to other cities in other states. This will be my 4th one in a row i will fly out there and room with at least 4-5 guys to save money. I will have a good time #1 the people i only see at botcon #2 new toys...DUH #3 The experience. I am not a FunPub Basher i belive they do a good job (my 2 cents) the only thing i am upset is that we have to pay upfront one night stay 7 months in adavance with less than 2 1/2 weeks till christmas if this is that case then i rather them tell us after the new year. Again my 2 cents if you dont like what i said or b/c i didnt bash FP get over it i will ....oh Pete if you read this can you collaborate on the pay up front it would be nice if they wait till after the new year.
Botcon might have been able to come to Arkansas, if it would ever leave California. That's why people are upset. The whole idea of moving a convention around is to move it around. 3 out of 5 years in the same place is too much. It should have been somewhere east of the Mississippi this years. I agree with others that the north east needs some attention.
Nope, won't be there. TFCon for me this year. Though, depending on the set, I might want to get a lose one.
I live in TN, and I don't mind flying every other year or so. But I agree that the same damn state this much is getting old. Plenty of states and regions that have gotten little/no love, that are still nice centers of population. I don't know about you guys, but I think we should take some of our complaints and concerns to the fan club message board, to hear what they have to say. Oh wait....
lets just face it, it desnt matter how much we bitch wine or moan about it they will do whats best for them also lets face it who would come to Arkansas we have nothing fun except for the hilbillie airport lol
My only concern is coming back to New England in the summer after breathing that wonderful dry California air for a week or so ,new England is a swamp in July.
So I guess it's just a matter of time before Slagacon or Charticon grow large enough to make those of us on the east side of the country happy. At least Slagacon is gonna start moving around. So maybe it'll take off and get bigger.
