I still don't understand why these movies still have bad special effects. They make over 140 million dollars in one weekend on average. If their budget is around 100 million (which should be enough), then they've already made a profit. I swear that I've seen Power Rangers episodes with better effects.

Should have hired a translator to just whisper what they're saying in your ear the entire film. Or write it out on a little dry-erase board like instant subtitles.

Oh God why? I'm worried if they deliberate make these movies as bad as all those SyFy movies.

    The Thing (2011)- 8/10

I see this pretty much as "The Thing Begins". I see the creature's actions as being the reckless first attempt at something that we all have, and "The Thing" being the creature's second attempt and using what it learned to its advantage.

And the totally stole that crawling hand idea from my long abandoned short fan-script.

"The Adventures of Ford Fairlane" on Laserdisc 1/10
The Adventures of Ford Fairlane (1990) - IMDb
The graveyard car chase scene was interesting, but this movie is horrible.
Now I know what Andrew Dice Clay is no longer popular...this movie.

I understand that even the best of VFX companies always have their "turkey shots", but yikes, it seems that the Twilight franchise has their ripe share of them.

It was terrible. It was one of the negatives my wife actually agreed on. She said it was borderline creepy. I get what they were trying to do... (make the baby look like both Edward and Bella) but it just fell flat.

The movie (and character) worked so much better when they actually showed you what the little actress looks like.

Funny thing though, when they show her as an adult in Alice's premonition...the CGI was top notch. I was sitting there thinking "Dafuq?"

I know I'm overthinking it, it's Twilight after all, but I'm not even sure how Edward and Bella had a child. I mean, I saw all of the beheadings... No blood, technically they're not alive, so how'd he produce a ...seed to be planted?

Yeah, logic went out the window in this saga.

    Red Dawn (2009-2012) 5.5/10
This film felt flat... and i mean pancake flat. No blood... (REALLY)... in a military/survival/invasion flick! The patriotic feel, emotional bonds & necessary sacrifices in the original film are all but gone in this sad little remake. I literally felt nothing when one of these characters were killed due to poor character development. The movie seemed to move way too fast, especially there so called training & there really lame death scene's... as a result, it all felt meaningless. Some remakes surpass the originals (Dawn Of The Dead '04, Halloween '07, The Thing '82) but this is definitely not one of them... i'll stick with the original.

The Man With The Iron Fist 6/10
First off, i'll admit... this film did entertain me... in a weird sorta way. I happen to be a fan of The Wu-Tang Clan & ex-WWE superstar Dave Batista, so it kinda made this movie more bearable for me to watch. Often wild & over the top, this movie seems more like Rza going through a serious ego trip than him trying to make a real martial arts masterpiece (which this is not). Although it's fun (and one shouldn't expect anything more), you'd have to be a die hard fan of one of these so-called actors/actresses to really enjoy it. Luckily for me, Jamie Chung provided a nice amount of eye candy & Batista was a serious badass.

    John Carpenter's The Thing - 10/10

Man, I've given a lot of movies I watch high marks.

Anyway, I had an urge to watch this film sometime after watching the Linkara video reviews on Starstream #1 and The Thing From Another World comics through Netflix Instant Viewing and this movie is pretty damn good. The story is solid especially on its psychological themes, the visual effects and make-up of the creature looks really great thanks, in no small part, to Rob Bottin, and Kurt Russell is just awesome as MacReady especially in this line near the end: "Yeah? Well fuck you too!" Outside of the graphic violence, I honestly don't get why this film is heavily criticized during its theatrical run. Aww well, at least the movie itself has certainly earned its cult following. :D

I think I need to watch it again. It's so mesmerising!

The Dark Knight Rises - 8/10
Man, I feel sorry for Bane... Talia friendzones him, he's about to kill Batman, and then he gets an anti-climatic death.

    Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist 6/10
A pretty basic romantic teen comedy that made me chuckle acouple times & cringe from the really nasty blonde drunk girl often (the gum scene is totally Fu*ked Up)!

Tomorrow, When The War Began 4/10
A straight wannabe Red Dawn '84. This movie reminded me of a silly television pilot that would eventually lead to an ongoing tv series, It felt nothing like a theatrically released film. Thumbs down!!!
