It really doesn't. If TDK didn't get many nods, this won't get any. And TDK was leagues better.

That is an awesome collection man. I'm only getting the Steelbook for now. I plan on picking up the Ultimate collection next year. I might pick up the trilogy set once I see more photos of the packaging though.

I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anne Hathaway deserve a nomination. Both were fantastic in the movie. The score is pretty amazing too and deserves a nod.

A lot has changed in the four years since TDK was released. Comic book films are becoming more accepted as legitimate Cinema by both critics and the organizations that hold these various award shows. I'm not saying TDKR is going to dominate or anything, but I do think it has a chance for at least some small nominations.

The music definitely deserves a nomination.

I've already got to see the dvd extras really nice and a great way to see how Nolan works without the use of cgi

in terms of the nomination posters I liked the movie but I agree that the dark knight was better and if it didn't get as many nods as it deserved then this probably won't either, it deinfately wont for acting (Talia's death scene sucked) they just don't give out awards for superheroes. CInematography, best score and hopefully best director.
They could always pull a Peter Jackson when he deserved stuff for the first two movies didnt get it and then for the last movie they finally gave them everything so maybe the academy was waiting for the last one.

The major problme I had with Talias death scene (besides the fact she was still breathing after she died and it was horribly over acted) was that acvcident wouldn't have killed her, I don't see wherre the injuries could have been inflicted where it would have been life threatening AND Gary Oldman was completely fine in the back of the truck with the nuclear weapon...yeah right

Yeah Talias death was awful. It reminded me of Lilys death by hiccups in How I Met Your Mother.

Here's a pic of what the finalized Blu-Ray set looks like:

Yup, it's a Best Buy exclusive:

Also, here's a video of a guy unboxing several of the different editions of TDKR as well as the trilogy boxset. These are European versions so the video isn't in English, but they all look identical to what we're getting in North America.

I'll probably just stick with the bare bones DVD. It's what I've gotten for both previous movies, and while some of the extras would be nice, none of them sound like they're necessary. I'll be happy with any extra stuff that the bare bones DVD happens to have (deleted scenes?), and the UV digital copy.

I know it's just cardboard but for it to fold out to the bat symbol looks awesome. Why is that book in the same picture?

the one in the set is a smaller "summary" version of the one at retail, it comes free with the set and fits in the sleeve with the blu-rays. Check the youtube opening vid

Glad i don't need the trilogy set or that book. Already have the other two movies on blu-ray and the larger hardcover version of that book.

TDK was not miles better, we all know the problems with rises, but still has a batman film, it is one of the the best. Actually rises is a better Batman film than TDK, TDK is a better movie, but for a batman film, rises feels like a batman movie more. I think the plan was more dangerous than the joker's, who only wanted to cause chaos, without actually threatening Gotham and Batman's life. In Rises, the chaos is on another level, the carnage hit's new peaks, and teqhnically Bane should have won. Bane was going to put a hole in Gotham, which makes Bane a completly more savage villain than the joker could ever be. We add the fact Bane can kick Batman's ass physically and mentally, so I did find Bane and his plan more terrifying than the joker's overall. So for me, I enjoyed rises more, despite the fact I know TDK is a better movie. For a batman movie, rises wins all day long

Unlike TDK, Rises is a race against the clock, which we never fully get with TDK despite the ferry scene. The tension for me is what really sets this film apart, the clock is ticking on Gotham as the bomb reaches it's end game. TDK was a character piece, Rises tests the mentality of all the PPL of Gotham, and I love that slant. Where time is not on their hands, and Batman, Gordon, and all the PPL of Gotham are taken out of their comfort zone, and throwing them into a war-zone, where a warlord takes control of Gotham

First off, the Academy will look at it as how good a film it is, not how good it is as a Batman film. So that argument is irrelevant.

Bane never broke Batman mentally. He tried and failed. Joker did. If you look at the overall plot, the performances, and the challenges Batman faced, TDK was a better film. Joker was a better, more menacing villain, and it felt like a very good adaptation of The Long Hallowen, to me. TDK is the single best superhero film made, and it gives equal characterization to the hero and the villain, but not in a boring way, which is how I felt Rises handled Bane.

You are taking the academy awards serious, when you see some of the films they have nominated over the years. Heck Titanic and LOTR won 11 Academy awards, did they deserve all of them? no.

Bane should have won, he broke Batman physically, he broke Batman's vertebrae, took him to Africa, and let him rot, name a villain that could do all that to Batman, that is damn fine work by any villain. I think Nolan went OTT with Bruce's mental state, when Bruce has faced tougher times than losing a love interest. And when Batman was out of the game for 8 years, did it effect Gotham? no. Only Gordon and Bruce, which is not something everyone in Gotham cared about.

Bane was a much bigger threat than the joker, his plan was on another level to the joker's. Yes the joker caused chaos, but ledger's performance over shadow's the actual plan the joker put's together, and he never really fully utilized his takeover of the mob, he just let himself get caught. After Rachel was killed, it was just random from the joker. and the ferry scene was a very easy situation for Batman to stop, so the Joker was flawed despite awesome of a villain he was.

Now Bane's plan, whole new level of terror. Bane's was a bullet proof plan, with it being such a grounded series by Nolan, Bane was unstoppable. Like I said, he found out about who Batman really was, he took over Bruce enterprise, he broke Batman's vertebrae, took him to Africa and let him rot in a prison. He done everything he could to stop Batman, he became the warlord of Gotham, and exposed the lie's Gordon and Batman kept for so long, on what dent had done to those PPL. Add the fact he did take out the entire police force, and in the process had talia become the mole, the eyes on what Gordon and co were trying to do to stop the bomb, so it made Bane's job much easier. Add these factors up. that is a damn fine villain we have got, and he was was more impressive than the joker

I found Bane far more menacing, the joker had a bit of humor, Bane was all brute strength. He could feel no pain, because the mask shut down his nervous system, he could fight like batman, he was younger than Batman, and physically he is superior to Batman, amd he was the first villain that could kill Batman. TDK was a better movie, but I enjoyed and found rises a much more enjoyable and bigger film, and a roller-coaster ride that I would expect from a Batman movie. And unlike the joker, Bane actually wanted to blow up the city, which is terrifying for any citizen. While with TDK, once the joker was caught I did lose interest in the film, which should never happen in a batman film
