I agree. I find Peter Cullen incredibly overrated. His voice acting isn't as great as people act it is.

I think Beast Wars sucks. I don't believe it brought Transformers back. I believe it delayed the return of the Autobots and Decepticons and was a total waste of time.

We need to elevate Cullen to a whole 'nother level. Peter Cullen as Primus.

Except BW totally did bring Transformers back after G2 flopped. You can debate whether the series sucks or not, but it's absolutely true BW saved Transformers from going the same route as G.I. Joe.

I have to agree with that. Promote Peter to Primus and bring in new guys for Optimus. I like Peter's DotM Optimus, but sometimes, you need a younger voice actor for a younger character.

I agree with all of the above about Cullen. Let him have one big moment maybe voicing Primus versus a Welker Unicron, but let someone else carry the Optimus torch.

Here are some of my other odd opinions.

I really wanted to see what Transtech would have been. The designs were just so cool, and I wish I could have had toys of some.

The only thing I hate in the transformers universe is the transformers multiverse. Let the series remain seperate.

I love that the franchise completely reinvents itself every few years, and don't care for the alligned continuity being permenant.

late Movieverse and Animated both had the most interesting designs we've seen yet. IDW's art style is also good though, but I love looking at a character and knowing exactly how they are.

Unicron, Primus, and the legendary Primes should remain legends with ambiguity and never proven.

I don't like the Transformers as homeless wanderers; I much prefer to see them in how their mass culture operates.

I have to agree with all of this, especially the part about how the franchise reinvents itself. It lets each story come to and end, and it lets us see what new and neat things are coming in the future.

The only reason that is true is because of the associated media. Had Armada been the next one after G2, it would have saved the franchise.

I think My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is written better and has more interesting, believable, three-dimensional characters than Transformers Prime. Not to say I don't like TFP, but I'm not above seeing the Hub's two flagship shows objectively.

The future kre-o releases are more exciting than the future mainline stuff.

What, Beast Wars? Yeah, because it had a cartoon. So did Armada, which sold well. G2 didn't, and look at what happened.

I fully agree with all these points. Some of mine:

    *I really hate FOC's controls
*The Fallen is a weak villian, in both ROTF AND in the Dreamwave comics.
    *I liked The Twins.

Arms Micron Breakdown is the best voyager ever.

Arms Microns are better than Minicons.

G.I. Joe Extreme, which ran around the same time as BW, had a cartoon, too. And what happened to Extreme? It failed, and ended up punting Joe to the backburner, where the next G.I. Joe cartoon (Sigma 6) wouldn't be produced for over a goddamn decade.

So it wasn't just having a cartoon that sold BW, it was the cartoon having strong characterization, good writing (especially when compared to the same G1 cartoon you place on a pedestal that brought us such fantastic stories as B.O.T. and Child's Play) and (for the time) impressive animation.

A show like Armada might have saved the franchise, but it wouldn't have left as much of an impact on the fanbase as the far superior Beast Wars, which still stands as one of - no, the most well-written Transformers media to this very day.

the modern figures are better than most G1 figures (mainly due to articulation)

Totally. Simon Furman was spamming the uber villains back then. In his short time writing Dreamwave comics we got a nigh invincible Galvatron in the Armada comics, Sunstorm in G1 ongoing, The Fallen in War Within, and at least one more I'm sure I'm forgetting (probably G1 Megatron making his god-like, triumphant return in the ongoing). They all monologue for ages, laugh off every attack, and generally tend to be flat-out boring. I don't miss any of them.

But I would welcome a new take on them as actual characters and not plot devices.
