Been rewatching eps the last few days and something just came up while I was in the middle of Operation Bumblebee Part 2. When Bulkhead used the forge to break the shield generator, a groundbridge opened behind him and he was shot in the back by Megatron, allowing Megatron to take the forge.

Now as we know, from this episode and ones following it, Bulkhead was perfectly fine after that. But then in Toxicity, he was shot in the back by Hardshell's blaster and (despite possibly being too weak from the Tox-En) still sustained more physical damage (smoldering wound on his back) to his body than from the Megatron attack.

Even after a direct hit on Bumblebee in season 1, he only managed to kill Raf (yeah I'm still counting it before they had it changed to let Raf live) while Bee didn't sustain any damage..

So...after all, is the Leader of the Decepticons' weapon not as powerful as it seemed before?

Lasers in this show are lasers. There's no difference between any of them. They all run on plot-power.

Except Laserbeak's. Laserbeak has the best firepower and accuracy in the show.

Also, when he fought Hardshell, he was poisoned badly beforehand, probably ate at him or his armor or whatever. He was just fine when Megs' shot him.

The weapons in this show are only useful when the plot needs them to be. Every time else, they're as useless as shit.

Couldn't you also say that the Tox-En would weaken Hardshell's fire power?

I'm not into serious business continuity when it comes to Prime. Trees can sucker punch Prime into unconsciousness, but Prime can beat Megatron in 12 seconds flat. Maybe Hardshell is just a bad enough dude to withstand Toxic Energon better than others can? Maybe he wasn't exposed long enough? He's dead now and Bulky's fine so it doesn't matter much to me.

Maybe Megatron adjusts the settings to his fusion cannon. Why would he waste the energon to kill when its not necessary. He's a freakin genious who can play everybody except Starscream.

Should be noted that his cannon killed 3 Starscreams.

And he wouldn't kill an Autobot, especially the one that destroyed the navigation system on the Nemesis, because...?

How do we even know that it's his Fusion Cannon? Has anyone referred to it as that? How do you know that it's not just a cannon on his arm? Afterall if he had such power then the pits would have been a breeze.

Also, in terms of raw power I think Insecticons are stronger. Just because Megatron is the leader it doesn't make him the strongest.

Megatron bested an Insecticon 1 vs 1 remember? Megatron was a gladiator. Just like in Roman times, yeah the tiger may be physically stronger, but the gladiator is more skilled, and thereby a better fighter.

Someone else already pointed this out, but Megatron's Fusion Cannon is only as powerful as the plot allows it to be. He can one-shot a Starscream, but only knocks down a Bulkhead, he can temporarily screw over Arcee with one-shot, but only makes Bumblebee spin to a stop.

Not sure, but I THINK that's what the toy packages call his weapon.

Prime is also in continuty with the WFC/FOC games, where Megatron has his Fusion Cannon, so in whatever way the two continuities match up it's reasonable to assume they're one and the same.

The weapons, like everything else in this show, are contrived and arbitrary. But what do you expect when they all sound the same and almost all of them look the same?

For random weapons to be treated as ancient relics that are special for some reason even though half the time their unique features aren't explicitly demonstrated at any point.

Oh could be worse. Could be like TFA Megatron swords that only cut their target when it's something that can't be killed.

Or like BW Rhinox machine guns that go from mowing Waspinator down to distraction fire.

Or every single G1 weapon that spent 2 seasons being just fine then magically kill people from shots to the shoulder when it's movie time.

Or pretty much everything in every Transformers fiction that only becomes a flaw when people decide it's the one they want to complain about at the current time of being.

Glitter bombs do more damage than Meg's Fusion Cannon.

Actually, no, that's not worse. Not when compared to Prime's entire series full of pointless weaponry to pad out unimpressive fight scenes.

Still not worse. Rhinox mopped up quite a lot with those things considering they were dual weilded machine guns with no stocks that shook like crazy from recoil. And he was fighting characters who had to be back for next episode, not an endless army of tissue paper Vehicons. Plus at the very least his guns looked and sounded unique.

    That's more like it.

I'm pretty sure people have pointed out the complete uselessness of the weapons since day one. And even if they didn't, doesn't change the fact that they do actually suck.

Inconsistency even with precendence is still inconsistency.
