Thanks for the info! I'll give it a try.

EDIT: So I just looked online and found a place here in AU that has Alcohol Spray with 96% Isopropyl Alcohol''. Would that work ?

I'm trying to identify if there are any batches of MP-12 that have sure fire good paint in this thread. Please can people that have received a good or bad one contribute to it? It could be futile but I really want a decent version of Lambor :D  So far, those stamped with the code beginning with J are all well painted.

Btw, I found a simple way of making the doors sit flush, someone may already have mentioned this. Before closing the arms into the side of the car, pinch the red flap at the base rather than the side. That will make it clip in properly. It made a world of difference on mine.

Careful with a spray. Make sure you don't spray the figure directly. Get yourself some nice 2x2 cotton gauze strips. I find q-tips and cotton balls don't give as much friction for removal. Start from the base of the problem and wipe away from it. If you're really bold, a hobby knife or razor blade can help when the paint has been weakened a bit, and also to help get right against tight corners.

    Good luck!

I got my Sideswipe on Thursday. I love the hell out of this thing.

The paint looks like it had two touch ups. (One on the hood and one on the right arm) I'm not all that fussy so it doesn't bother me at all. *Preorders Red Alert without question*

Just like aledromo says, be careful with a spray.

Honestly though, I'm not sure why you'd want to buy this stuff online. It's as common as bandaids at any pharmacy or place that sells medical supplies like a grocery store. And it's dirt cheap too.

Yeah, I get my isopropyl that I use for airbrushing just from wal mart. It's just a couple bucks for a giant bottle.

I was looking through my collection to see some guys that may work as in scale stand ins for some of the other original autobot cast. As has been found already, RtS Jazz and Classics Bumblebee look really good. Jazz is a tiny bit small. If he was just a smidge taller and bulkier all around, he'd be perfect. As it stands, he looks perfectly fine in a group stance. Same for 'Bee. He's a bit too big, but all together he looks good.

The other one I found that isn't perfect, but looks alright is Classics Mirage. He's too short if you measure him to the head, but the wheels on his back bulk him to the right height. The biggest problem is the classics style doesn't fit as well with him as with Jazz or 'Bee. Again, he's workable in a group shot, but I really want a MP Mirage that would fit perfect.

This is just a hastily thrown together group shot. I'll try to put together a better one later.

You know what's crazy? I was JUST setting up a similar display on my shelf and thinking about posting it here. I have the iGear Ironhide, a custom (just a repaint into more g1) Classics Bee, United Jazz and Sideswipe with Prime. It totally works! Thanks for saving me the trouble of posting it.

Oh, and to the person who shot Sideswipe with Skywarp above: you are my new hero.

    Messing with scale some more.

As a Wheeljack fan, I hoped Generations Wheeljack would fit right in. According to the handy dandy scale chart, he should be shorter than Sideswipe, but his wings should be the same height as Sideswipe's head.

Sadly, there's no getting around it here. Generations Wheeljack is way too small. Someone with Alt. Wheeljack could give him a try, but I suspect he'll be too big. I guess Wheeljack fans will just have to wait and hope licensing issues surrounding him can be resolved and we can get a proper MP.

I didn't have an official scale for G1 Windcharger, but when I put him together with Sideswipe and Classics Bee, he fit right in. I think he'll be sitting on my MP/G1 shelf with this group for the foreseeable future.

It's already been established that MP Grimlock doesn't fit right in with the new scale, but I really think he looks good enough. He may be too short, but his bulk gives him the dominating look over Prime that you want from Grimlock.

I'll take some vehicle mode shots tonight. I'm just having so much fun messing around with all these guys. I'll grab my real camera as well so you don't have to deal with these awful cellphone pics. If anyone has any other scale questions, let me know. I'll see if I can help you out.

@yami4ct- if you got Wheeljack some extended leg sliders, and did the waist mod seen in Radicons, I'm pretty sure he'd be spot on to what you're after. I can provide links to what I'm talking about if you haven't seen them before?

I know what you're talking about it, but I totally forgot about it. I'll dig it up from the radicons and see if it'll solve the problem. I don't want to do any physical mods to this one, as I like how he looks on my classics shelf. If the mod looks right, I may grab another jack to mod for my MP shelf.

That's the understatement of the year...lol. It's getting to the point where pre-ordering masterpieces before the reviews come out is way too risky.

Can anyone do a robot-mode pic of Lambor and BT Tracks?
    Cheers.

I scored Sideswipe yesterday at my local hobby guy. 95% of the figure is flawless, with the usual complaints regarding paint. A couple of very, very small bubbles on the spoiler/fin, a little bit of overspray and a very, very small red line on the white portion of his right wrist. Seriously, these flaws are so minor though that I don't really care because the figure is seriously kick-ass.

I had so much fun with this guy last night and this morning. Couldn't stop transforming him and fiddling around with him. I would love to see TakTom make some of these Deluxe-ish sized MP cars. Especially Sunstreaker. Sideswipe needs his bro, big time.

Oh, I should mention that I'm in Taiwan, so it's not just you blokes in The West that are getting dodgy paintjobs. Honestly though, considering how awesome the figure is and how just about every 1st-run MP has had issues of somesort, I can easily overlook the minor paint issues.

As with Masterpiece Rodimus, with all of the QC problems on Lambor, we will be seeing a rerelease of this figure with some of the problems fixed.

Is this fact for this figure, or a simple assumptio? Because if there is a second run of this figure coming, I'll bite then.

There's been no official word on any of it.

Earlier in the thread a poster said Robot Kingdom had contacted Takara about the complaints and Takara refused to acknowledge the problem.

There might be a second run, and there might not be. If you really want it, go ahead and buy it from a reputable retailer that will let you exchange it if the paint is that bad. I got mine from BBTS and the paint is good. I would have said it had perfect paint, but since I was closely examining it I noticed that on one side, the black trim around the window extends onto the red a fraction of a millimeter. It's such a small thing you really have to be looking for it. There's nothing gloppy on mine, and no thin patches either.

    Good Sideswipes do exist. :)

And as for comparing it to Rodimus... There's a point to that, but is sloppy paint on the same level as the many, many design flaws in Rodimus? One requires a touch up, and the other requires remolds. One looks bad, one falls apart.

I think the second run of Rodimus was much more likely than Takara doing a second run of Sideswipe.
