There's nothing wrong with it because that's not what happens. DLC budgets, even for stuff that's on the disc, are separate from the primary game's budget. If the DLC budget didn't exist, none of that content would be there. The Insecticons and Dinobots wouldn't be playable at all, the added character armor wouldn't be there, etc. Keeping it on the disc is a way of making sure the entire playerbase is working with the same content, even if people don't buy the DLC. You're not being ripped off, nothing is being "held back." It is what it is. You're free to not pay for it, just like everything else in the consumer world.

The reason Halo gets tons of map packs and FoC doesn't is that Halo is a primarily online game with millions of players who populate the multiplayer every night, and they will purchase new maps in large numbers. Even though you split the playerbase that way, you've still got a million or more players with the new maps, and finding matches won't be a problem. With FoC, you're talking about a total regular online playerbase in the tens of thousands, if you're lucky, and if you split that playerbase with a map pack, you're looking at maybe a couple thousand people who buy it, and then you have an incredibly small pool to draw from for matchmaking.

It just doesn't make sense to do it for a title as "small" as FoC. The only other option would be to give the maps away for free, and that's not going to happen because game development costs money. There's just no way around it until Transformers games start selling like Halo, and good luck with that.

WOW !!!!!!!!! I am let down by this but when I saw all the DLC come out with in a month or so of the games release, I knew that after all that came out, that would basically be it and the game wouldnt get anything else. Thats sad to see. This game is freaking amazing and I just wish more gamers actually gave it a chance.

Double XP is the only thing keeping me playing ATM. Otherwise I would be playing MW3.

To be honest im getting sick of people complaining its always the way its in every fan base. Everyone complains then the people fix it and then they complain about something else or complain about the fix it gets so freaking annoying why cant people just make up there minds instead of complaining about every dam thing. Its not like we did not get a great game but I guess im shouting at a brick wall since no person is going to listen or if they do there just going to attempt to make a counter arguement which could or most likely fail.

You complained about getting kicked out of games with DLC maps and that you dont want DLC maps so they didnt include DLC maps this time and know your complaining that there should be DLC maps.

I don't think those are the same problems, although they share the same answer.

The first problem was that people couldn't join certain games that were using DLC Maps. The Second problem is that there are no new maps period. Outright removal is not the same as what they should have done, which would have been to release new maps that were NOT required to be purchased, but included with patch updates and stuff for everybody to enjoy.

I don't Blame High Moon, I blame Activision.

There the ones who pull their strings which is likely the reason they were so steep with the extra characters and their prices.

I don't even think they sold more than 300k world wide.

    Why?

Because you could tell by the MP portion that they didn't have much wiggle room with Activision and the budget for this game.

And as much as I liked the Champagne mode I can't tell people with a straight face to pay $60 for it then turn around and pay another $30 for unlockable characters that aren't that much of a difference from the other characters already playable.

I pretty sure that most of the people who paid that extra 30 bucks did it under the expectations that there would be more maps would come down the line.

Based on this I guess I can trade in this game now since I did hope that something would come out an breath more life into it's lackluster MP portion. And since they didn't... A part 3 if they choose to make it wont be a day one purchase.

Seeing a few posting that they are not even going to buy the game. IMO it's a good game as far as the main campaign goes. And I did have fun with Escalation as well. Granted the MP got boring after awhile however.

At the very least give it play with Gamefly/ borrow/ or wait for it on the cheap.

The statement that new players maps would split the gaming community is a cop out to the fans. And, new maps would only enhance the player pool, not dwindle or separate it. This is a big dissapointment for me. I love this game, and really wanted to see more maps.
Oh, and why did High Moon downgrade the scientist's gear shredder and proton burst rifle so much. It's so hard to score a kill with those weapons now.

The Scientist weapons were nerfed because it was arguable rather easy to win as a scientist (for experienced players) compared to the other classes. The other answer is that enough people complained about it. I think the better course of action would have been to balance the other classes by making them stronger rather than taking the easy way out and nerfing a class.

Or just nerf the Gear Shredder. The Burst Rifle was fair, many times I've pwn'd someone who was sniping me with it because I dashed around randomly while firing at him while he was just trying to hit me.

Honestly this makes me sick, for proclaiming that their fans were so big on their priorities they sure did drop the ball on this one. If they don't give a rats ass I'm not going to bother paying them for another game.

Disc-locked content cash grab and then bail out on the post game support, great business plan High Moon.

    Lost one dedicated fan.

    Not that surprising.

Not a big enough long-term online community to support that much.

Agreed. They claim they wanted to make FOC the best it could be, but they don't listen. Now, I am not complaining about not getting anymore character or map packs, because I think we have a pretty good amount. But it is the colors and the whole MP setup that makes me so upset.

Actually, paid map packs would split the community, and with one as small as FoC's, would likely have been disastrous, especially for the PS3 and PC communities, which are less robust than the 360 one.

High Moon made the right choice in not making paid map packs. Their mistake was in failing to come up with an alternate monetization method that would have worked with FoC's smaller community. For instance, the ME3 multiplayer has gotten away with many free maps and classes because their money comes from random boaster packs. If FoC had done something like that, perhaps we could have seen more DLC than what we ultimately got.
