Totally. Nose isn't as long and pointy, but the resemblance is there.

I can't wait for this guy. Those little minis will be very helpful in scaling photoshops as I sub in the actual toys.

It's a good thing I can mix and match modes to find the things I prefer. Thinking of going for carrier deck with cruiser thrusters, and secret mode legs with normal robot body.

I love all these great transformers we are getting from 3rd party companies. The hobby has gotten super expensive but so far I dont have any regrets with any fansproject/maketoys pieces I have purchased and this gu y looks to be like another slam dunk

Wow the original Broadside figure looks like a piece of crap.

I love how Assaulter is so chunky and thick.

    Good stuff FP!

This is looking better and better each reveal... the minis are fantastic bonus. I'll be holding my breath for these guys to make a Blitzwing. Somebody REALLY needs to take care of him. He was one of the best toys out of the G1 line, great character, fun re-invention in Animated...

But I digress. With so many mode variations and two great robot modes. Win-win-win-win-win!

sooo just out of curiosity by looking at the images and all of the little mini cars/bots you get I can tell there is Defender in aeriel mode and car, Steelcore with a trailer, and then there are three of them I can't really explain such as the two bikes and then the one dune buggy type vehicle. Is FP planning on releasing a bike and dune buggy warbots? or will this fall under a different category of FP bots?

at tfcon FP mentioned that they shortened it so it would fit in jet mode in a billy bookcase behind the glass since a lot of collectors use them

I have a picture review of this. Seeing as we got it them early in BC I figured I might as well. That way you guys know what to look out for when you get your figures!

Been playing with him for a couple hours now, and you know what I love most about him? The restraint used in designing him.

The problem with any creative endeavor is knowing when to stop. There's always something more that could be added, more features, more detail, more guns, etc. Many 3P products suffer from this, and end up being floppy, overly fragile, or scary to transform because the designers just had to squeeze in just a little more awesome.

Assaulter does not suffer from this at all. He's solid. The joints are heavily built, the hinges reinforced, and potentially fragile parts are placed out of the way of areas of high finger-traffic. Tabs are thick and sturdy, and attachment points are firm, yet pop free without breaking when struck. I still wouldn't drop him (he really is very heavy), but were it to happen, I'd give him good odds of surviving intact (I suspect the tailfins, rather like Defender's sword, are a lot sturdier than they look).

Yes, the cruiser mode might look better with some more gap-filling and extra spaceship details (although there are quite a few of those already) to make it more of a unified ship, but that would compromise on the sturdiness and increase the chance of things breaking during transformation. Same goes for thinner/sharper blades, more detailed landing gear, and cockpit details. Everything on Assaulter shows the sign of a designer who wanted to make a cool transforming toy, had a list of priorities and desired features, and who knew exactly when to STOP.

I'm very, very happy with this toy.
