    Sorry, my bad.

That's the first thing TFW has let me post in about a week. For some reason, it throws me off the site everytime I try to make a post lager than a couple of sentences. I'm working on it....

Just re-read your last update. I enjoy the quasi-mystical overtones here, particularly the scrying for sparks. I missed that reference last time. You blend action, science, and the mystic very well.

Hmmm...blaming TFW for his posting problems while at the same time making a Freudian slip. Denial is the first step towards solving your problems, Coolhand. Don't worry man, we're here to support you.

    Hi guys.

As always, thanks for commenting and reading, and I'll be posting my usual responses a bit later on this week, but I just want to quickly bring something to your attention:

    PLEASE READ THIS.

If any of you listen to the Pre-Order 66 high-end toy podcast (their forum-thread is in the Toyark, and most of the Pre-Orer 66 crew are members of the TFW2005 boards), then you'll be familiar with Crasis, TFW2005 board member and Pre-Order 66 host. I don't know the dude personally, but I'm a big fan of his show, which is genuinely one of the funniest podcasts on my download list.

Well, turns out that Crasis got hit hard by Hurricane Sandy and has basically lost his home. It's gone, rendered toxic by oil. TFW members Peaugh and Aksmith have started a fundraiser to try and help him get back on his feet. If you have some money to spare, and you're in a position to help out a fellow Transformers fan in a time of great need, then click on this link to get the details of how to contribute.. There is also a youtube link on the post from Peaugh giving a bit more background on the situation.

Okay, taking off my public service announcement hat now. Thanks for listening guys. :)

Oh man, that's sad to hear one of our fellow TFW members lost his home. :(  Will try my best to contribute to the fundraiser.

Right, so for the past few weeks I've been trying to post a reply to everyone's comments and every time I try it, the website boots my butt out. I think it must be something about the formatting of the replies, or some of the quote code I'm using, but at this point the only way to troubleshoot is to post it all in chunks and see which bit falls over! :D

So, below will follow multiple replies, some of which may or may not work...

Me Grimlock say, you half right with that one.

Always expect the unexpected. You should always expect that. Except for when you shouldn’t. Or SHOULD you-
    (SMACK!)
Me Grimlock say: Koolhand in smartass-feeback loop. Me reset him with big stick to back of head.

Our main weapon is surprise! Surprise and a total lack of respect for peons beneath us. Two, two main weapons….
    (SMACK)
Me Grimlock did another reset. First one didn’t take.

I would do a version of Python’s bring out your dead sketch here but I’m a little afraid that-
    (SMACK)
Me Grimlock say: That was pre-emptive.

Actually, in the next update, Mirage tells Prime that he sees dead people who don’t know that they’re dead….

1: They tried, but they couldn’t find a tape measure that small.

2: Lol! I guess he is indeed an official Matrix fragger now. You’re right, that is the sort of observation the twins would make. I might have to include it.

3: I’m the victim of an ancient conspiracy formulated by sentient bananas to prevent my work from ever appearing in official TF media. Also, I failed the IDW psychological exam. Something about paranoid delusions and hearing voices. Go figure.

Thanks dude. Welcome back to TFW, always nice to catch up. ☺

The novel thing never came of unfortunately- I got over quite a few hurdles and managed to get quite far down the submission road, but in the end they passed and went with something else. No big deal, happens all the time in publishing. Watch this space though, coz a new door opens every time an old one closes…

My mother’s doing very well now, thanks for asking. Rehabilitation from a head injury is something that never really ends but she’s making good progress and now I have an endless supply of brain-injury jokes to throw at her. As long as I’m out of range.
    (KA-SMACK!)
Me Grimlock assisting you in empathising with your mothers predicament.

Awesome analysis and bloody good points raised sir. There is much truth in what you say. What we’re seeing from Mirage now is a bot who’s long been waiting a long time for the moment to make a certain move. He didn’t have a complex plan, you’re totally correct there, but he did know he had certain “cards”, as it were, that would need to be played at the right time, in order to get what he wants. He didn’t anticipate Prime destroying the Matrix, but it’s opened a space in the game that’s perfect for Mirage to start dealing the cards he’s been saving in the shadows.

See, the thing about Transformers is that they live for eons. And when you live for eons, you really can play the long game when it comes to recovering power…

Regret? A gentleman never regrets his actions, for that would imply that he was somehow in error!

Me Grimlock say: Neither one is killing Decepticons right now, so neither is right.

In times of hardship, dicks gotta stick together.
    Wait, that came out wrong…

One thing is certain. It’s NEVER the end of Grimlock. ;)

Cheers dude. ☺ The use of the word “scrying” was deliberate, and relates to the Transformer life cycle in OOTDL, which is a little different from the one in the typical G1 continuity. The strip will go into more detail about this but I’ll also get some backstory up on the facebook page, for those who are curious as to how OOTDL handles with aspect of the Cybertronians.

Eek, more pencils? I fear I might get lead poisoning-
    (Ka-smack!)
Me Grimlock say pencils contain graphite, not lead. Idiot.

Working on the next update at the moment, and also on some stuff for the facebook page. The facebook site is going to be where a lot of the backstory goes, stuff that’s not essential to the story but that you might find interesting if you’re curious about the way that the OOTDL world works.

I've just started a new series of articles on the page, which will be about the various strips I'm reading on TFW and why I enjoy them. The first one is up and from time to time I'll add extras as and when the fancy takes me.

Also just had a brand new arrival to the coolhand collection: MP Sideswipe is in da house, Yo! I’m thinking of doing a review of him as I’ve not been as excited about an official Transformer product since…well…MP Grimlock. Tecnically he is overpriced for his size and materials, but he’s also awesome enough for that not to matter. This thing sizzles with G1 sunbow accuracy awesomeness.

It really does seem like the MP line has finally come alive. Swipe, Red Alert, Soundwave, the cassettes…it’s going to be an expensive but wonderful few months.

How does Soundwave scale against the Alts? Usably?

Soundwave? From the look of the preview pics, he's about the size of MP10 and the MP Seekers, so probably useable for display/photocomic purposes.

As for Sideswipe, eeeeeh...not great. In Alt mode he's nowhere near the right size. In bot mode, it's not quite as bad but still noticeable. I set up a really quick and nasty display and took a quick and nasty photo
    [IMG]
Oddly enough, the photographs slightly minimise the scale difference, in person it's much more noticeable. Also, the aesthetics of the piece are noticeably different to the Alternator aesthetic. That's not to put down either set of toys. MP12 looks very much like the cartoon Sideswipe brought to life, where as Alternators look like Real World High Detail cars that turn into Robots. Both MP12 and the Alts excel at what they do.

    He he...:ev:
I won't lie, I love this guy. I'm pretty much just an MP collector now, what with Alts and BT's all being gone, and nothing in Dark of the Moon, Prime, or the CHUG/ Cyberverse ranges appealing to me at all.

It feels like HasTak have made a deliberate choice to upscale the number and the quality of the MP releases, just to make me happy. "Wait, coolhand has no interest in any of our mainstream releases? Quick, to the MasterPiece Line, and be sure to include a Ravage!"

Now, hopefully TRU UK will be bringing out MP10, and I'll somehow figure a way to get TRU US to ship MP Thundercracker to a UK address, and all will be funky and well.

Yeah, while he's not made to fit in with Alternators size he is scaled perfectly with MP10. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...case/201375-sds-collection-4.html#post8554172
