I take it the scaling between characters are out of scale. There are times I see Prime being the same height as the Ironhide and Ratchet but in some scenes where he's a head taller than the rest of the Autobots. Is it safe to say that the video games suffer the same issue that the other Transformer media suffer?

 

Optimus is slightly taller than the other autobots. It could be an issue of perspective.

 

The only real issues I ever saw was that Bruticus is noticeably bigger than the sum of his parts, and Grimlock's T Rex seems larger than his robot mode.

 

When it comes to problems like this, there is one thing you must remember:

In Transformers, scale is an illusion.

No matter what continuity you are in, characters can schange sizes whenever it is convinient.

 

I think someone actually ripped a scale chart or something from WFC on here one time, I was interesting to see just how much bigger Trypticon was than Omega Supreme, given the latter was himself gigantic.

 

This pissed me off when I stopped to notice it. Megatron was the same size as Brawl, but when Bruticus helped Megs to retrieve Trypticon, both legs were CONSIDERABLY bigger than their leader. I REALLY wish they kept at least Bruticus to scale.

 

I'm pretty sure those are on purpose.

 

Anyone also notice that CJ is huge compared to Jazz, like even bigger than the CJ toy is compared to the Jazz toy, in both robot and vehicle mode? It makes the load screen statement that CJ is some kind of dwarf fucking hilarious.

Also random aside, I liked that Metroplex was the same size as the Ark. Means Trypticon and him are the same size, we just never saw them have their throwdown.

 

This is something they should include in the art book rather than just concept art.

 

I HATE the scaling in this game 

HMS basically created four different sizes, and they just so happen to be married to the four classes they made. Infiltrators are all the same height, and this is true for all other classes too.

Why could we have tall and short characters turn into cars. Why not tall, short or even average height jets, tanks or trucks? I hate how Jazz, Bumblebee, Sideswipe and Cliffjumper are the same height.

I hope HMS introduces more size variety next time around, but seeing how this has been an issue since WFC, I probably shouldn't expect much 

 

Biggest scale differences are Metroplex's constant, yet hard to notice, size changing.
Best way to see what I mean is to look at his face right after he smashes the squad of Leapers (take note of how close he is), and then look at the scene where Optimus and Ironhide stand on his shoulder.

And there is some definite inconsistency in this game. I guess it's the G1 inspiration.

Thanks to the "Epic Heights of FOC" GMANIFESS provided we know BB is ~20 feet tall (which sounds unusually tall for him, given his muscle-car Movie counterpart is still only 16 feet tall, but whatever).

... which means Omega Supreme is ~300 feet at the top of his head.

... and Trypticon is ~680 feet to the top of his head.

Of course, Optimus there should really only be ~25 feet tall, which doesn't sit well with the >30 feet the "Epic Heights of FOC." I know he has a different body between the two games, but 5+ feet is a sizable change.

Yeah, that was the one scene that messed it up for me. It wasn't so bad in the scene that they first form up in Swindle's chapter.

Oh, naturally. I don't call them "errors", they are clearly artistic choices. The only problem is that as a mecha-nerd it's a bit jarring to see. I'm sure most more casual people were just impressed by the scenes and never had a second thought.

 

There has always been some serious mass shifting/size changing for G1 gestalts. Bruticus limbs are no different. Transformers rarely ever applied logical scale or mecha realistic rules on a consistent basis unfortunately.

 

One thing about size changing, is that it doesn't matter to them, example is big ol' Megatron turning into a hand-sized gun or Overkill turning from a cassette to a decepticon sized t-rex (sometimes though).

 

It really blows me away that Optimus is 25-30 feet tall, yet he's only a pixel compared to Metroplex (bar the scene where he and Ironhide are on his shoulder). Just how tall is that guy?
