not to be overly pedantic, but that's BBTS' price with their markup included. We haven't seen Takara's MSRP on them, and I doubt it would be the yen equivalent of $60.

It's just different strokes. As more than a casual collector I find many more reasons to own an Encore Fortress Maximus, Omega Supreme, etc. over their original counterparts.

Listen, no reissue or KO will ever replace the history of a vintage figure. Can't happen. But the Encore line is a way to give collectors access to these beautiful figures. As for the quality ... as a person who has done a lot of reviews with the reissue G1 lines, there's no difference or very minimal difference. Again, different opinions here and a good situation where 2 people can see different things.

I feel this exact same way...the only reissues (TRU) in my collection stay MISB...IF I were to purchased this encore FM it would be the only reissue I would consider openning...and that is just because of how awesome and special of a toy FM is...

Edit: not hating on the reissue or this thread...I think in this situation everyone wins...

Not trying to piss on anyones Wheaties her, if you noticed, I pre-ordered one because it's the best I'm going to do. I'm just trying to calm down the people who own an original who think the price might go down on them.

Assuming you're being serious then yeah, I honestly wouldn't worry that much. The price might go down a little but not drastically.

tough call tough call... but I dont really have 350 to drop with all the awsome mps and 3rd party stuff like combiners and hexatron and all...

for what its worth i have an ALL reissue G1 collection and i love it for what it is. the only thing thats a KO is my KO Shockwave. I fgured that one wont get a rerelease so I went KO.

EDIT: i preordered to be safe. we'll have to see what my finances look like in april. :)

yeah, but there IS a difference. If I were showing a g1 collection to another TF fan or even someone who isn't a fan, the first thing they'd likely ask is "are these all originals" and with encores, I'd have to admit they are not.

Quoted for truth! I sold my Fort Max last December (c8 loose/complete w/repro Cog arms/gun) for $800. $350 for a minty-fresh one with a JAPANESE box is pure win!

    And?

So your answer is "mostly, this one and this one are Reissues though." Where's the problem there?

I guess that I am gonna have to get the small guns for my vintage Fortress Maximus before the encore ones flood the market. But great news nonetheless for those who don't own one.

See I look at it the other way. If it was a KO sure, then it's a fake - but with Encore? It's still Takara - it's the original company, they're just making more a long while later. It's an official Transformer. From the 1980s? No - but G1? I'd argue yes.

The most shocking thing to come out of this Fort Max reissue thread is finding out that girls actually married a bunch of you nerds.

because it's no longer and authentic g1 collection (from g1 days) it contains replicas. like I said, I am (at least I thought) a casual collector. I'd bet anything a hardcore collector (of any genre) would agree adding replicas to fill spots in a collection depreciates the authenticity.

it's off topic, but imagine a guy who collected 1982 Topps baseball cards... but has always been missing 1 player's card, would he put in a substitute re-issue, then claim to have the full authentic set/collection? More-so, would he push his set as complete and/or authentic?
