If you look closer, Assaulter is taking up a lot of space compared to Defender and Steelcore.

 

Gah! I'd talked myself out of Assaulter as I was saving up my now meager budget for buying out potential Colossus releases, but darn it if those micro machines didn't change my mind.

I have to say though that if I buy Assaulter I'm going to have to find a customizer to make me some micro Aerialbots too.

 

Nope, Assaulter first shows up in the comic that comes with Assaulter, which continues off where Steel Core's comic ends.

looks to me like the other two had a lot of wasted space in package. Assaulter just appears to utilize more of it...and i'm sure he's folded to some degree.

I am totally gonna try that the second it comes in.

 

The toy is homaging Broadside all right.. with the modes + color schemes . But I can't get over his bulky proportions,especially the head barely peeks out from the chest.

Although my achilles' hell is Triple changers... but this is gonna be a pass .

 

So the secrets of this toy so far will be...

1. 3rd ship mode.
2. 4rd alternate robot mode.
3. Guns combine into battle axe.
4. Comes with tiny Steel Core and Defenders.
5. Something ELSE?!?

Honestly, that was already enough to sell the toy to me.

 

Gotta say it's a clever strategy by FP to say the alt modes and accessories are "secrets"  

 

I had the G1 Broadside when I was a kid. I loved the diecast metal wings/flight deck. I always thought it was crazy how a two seater fighter jet can turn into something as big as an aircraft carrier? But thats also partly why I like it. I'm getting him.
