Damn, the cast sure has expanded since the last time I looked at this picture. Insecticons are the biggest problem for me though, you have him scaled perfectly with Megatron imo (BIG AS HELL, but shorter), but in 'New Recruit' there was an insecticon that wealked up on Prime and towered over him--despite Prime being shorter than Megatron, the insecticon seemed off there..they're so huge.

Of course they are, a few even tower Megatron.

I thought Shockwave was bigger, but I'd have to go back and watch to get a better feel for it.

This needs a new pic of Dreadwing. He's very blurry here.

Yeah, I agree. I need to transfer the HD versions of some old episodes off my previous laptop or re-download them and I might be able to find a higher quality one.

really? i have to go back and watch crossfire and the like. I remember thinking Insecticons were far larger than megatron and then was disappointed in eps like 'Hurt' where Hardshell was clearly shown to be shorter than Megatron. It seems all Insecticons are hulking beasts and wide, but are shorter than Megatron...so, any eps in particular where we see some are taller than him and 'tower'?

Because, as it stands, i dont see any like that/can't remember any and with the height we know Prime has, they shouldn't be able to tower over him like that, unless they were far larger than Megs altogether.

I was thinking about that too, so I'm just chalking it up to them not all being exactly the same size. That solves it for me!

So, I've been using this scale guide to try to help me figure out whether to use FE or RID figures for the guys that had First Edition toys.

    Here's my list:

Optimus Prime - Weaponizer (I know it's too big, but all the other Optimuses are too small)
Arcee - RID (Smaller than the FE mold)
Bulkhead - FE (This one I'm not completely sure about, it seems like RID might scale better with Breakdown)
Ratchet - N/A (need a voyager, until then my collection will remain Ratchetless)
Smokescreen - N/A (he'll probably get a status update once AM photos start cropping up)
Bumblebee - FE (This one I'm a little unsure of as well, it seems like the FE mold scales better to everyone other than RID Wheeljack)
Cliffjumper - RID (Seems to be shorter than Bumblebee by more than the FE mold is, with further rationalization later in this list!)
Wheeljack - RID (It's too small, it's the only option, but at least it's not as far off as Ratchet)
Tailgate - Generations GDO G1 Cliffjumper (Helps diversify the two characters by using the FE mold with a new head for Tailgate and the RID mold for Cliffjumper) #offtopicrepurposing

Megatron - N/A (Nothing large enough, this causes me much sadness)
Starscream - RID Voyager (The Deluxe seems too small, even with his impressive height)
Soundwave - N/A (Too small again!)
Knock Out - AM (Like the paint job better, even if I hate the Micron ports on him)
    Breakdown - AM (Only option)
Airachnid - AM (Stickers give her more detail and I'd rather have the Micron than the crab claws)
Dreadwing - N/A (Unless I scale Optimus down to Voyager, DW and his bro will be too small)
    Skyquake - N/A (see above)
Laserbeak - RID (so far it's my only option, it's at the bottom of my Prime want list)
Vehicons - ??? (I have no idea, the RID version is too small but matches the size of the AM Jet Vehicons, so it's either better scaled Vehicons with no jet guys or, once again undersized Vehicons with jet guys)
Insecticons - N/A (Why hasn't a figure been announced? Eh, probably be too small anyway)

Cylas - AM (If the colors aren't too far off)
Nemesis Prime - N/A (Doubt I'll be getting a purple Weaponizer Optimus anytime soon)

Unicron - AM? (Too small, but I might be able to make him work, need more comparison photos)

    What do you guys think?
Is RID Bulkhead in better scale than FE?
Am I way overshooting with Weaponizer Prime, and should scale him back to FE?
Similarly, is Voyager Starcream too big?
Which versions of Cliffjumper and BB should I use?
And, larger more accurate car Vehicons or small car and jet vehicons that match?
Any other suggestions to make my Prime collection in better scale in robot mode?

^I'd say deluxe SS is better in scale. He actually isn't that tall in the show. Bulkhead's height at best. At the way the deluxe stretches out in robot mode makes him almost the same height as a voyager.

Thanks! Due to this thread, I pretty much consider you the authority on Prime scale. FE Starscream it is!

Where do you stand on the other FE molds vs their RID counterparts? Or, in Optimus Prime's case, FE or Weaponizer?

    What, from the Entertainment Pack?
    Work with what?

    Cyberverse
    Arcee, maybe... :peoples:

FE Voyager Optimus Prime is the finest figure of the line, and most of the Deluxe figures are based around his scale (including Decepticons).
Ratchet and Megatron are a little too small (and Arcee's definitely too big), but all the rest are pretty close.

PRiD Bulkhead is slightly more scale-accurate than the FE mold, but it's an inferior figure in every other conceivable respect.

Oh, and Gaia Unicron is to scale with most of the Unicron avatars Prime fought one-on-one in the show...
...at least, until the other Autobots showed up and the avatars started getting bigger and bigger.

A lot of the problems in scaling with this line is how the toys seem to work out nicely in some situations but not in others. Like Weaponizer Prime is perfect scaling for RID Arcee, since she is about the size of the blue parts of his legs in show or shorter than that, which works, but other than that, Weaponizer is WAAAY too big imo.

I think FE Prime works just fine (ignoring the fact that in some episodes, other characters come up higher or lower on Prime). For this reason, Deluxe Ratchet seems to work with FE Prime (see the episode Operation Bumblebee pt. 2, when Prime and Ratchet talk). Same with Wheeljack and Knock Out, Ratchet seems to be the same height as them in show (see Stronger, Faster and Triage), but in most other shots, he's clearly taller--and should have beena voyager figure because of that.

    Questions:!

Anyways, to avoid making this post too long---if you're using Weaponizer Prime, then FE Bulk would be better. Bulkhead isn't THAT short compared to Prime, so larger Prime calls for larger Bulkhead.

Scale Prime back to FE I say, he isn't so freakishly large and while Arcee comes up higher than she should on him, he fits in much better with everyone else.

Voyager Starscream is much too big. He only fits in with FE Arcee if you ask me (see: Partners), but other than that, the figure is just too odd...nice, but odd.

If it's just about size compared to each other, I'd say use FE Bee with RID Cliff, but I really can't stand looking at RiD Cliff when the FE has such a nicer headsculpt and arms (imo). Plus, as long as Cliff is shorter than Bee, it doesn't matter much I think--so FE for me.

I say use which ever Vehicons you already have troopbuilt. I had 3 RID ones, but I picked up an FE one for the sake of having the mold and to be a 'commander', but it's much better to having matching molds displayed in the group. so car/jet AM/RiD!

Suggestions? I can't think of any really. I'm a scale freak too but to fix the flaws we have, we'd need new figures, which I doubt we'll get. Only thing I guess I could recommend is keeping Soundwave's legs straight and unbent at the knee so he's taller and looks...better next to FE Starscream. Everything else has already been address

-WOW that was a lot of typing @.@ hopefully I didn't drag on too much

Not read the whole thread, the update looked better.

Just want to add that Smokescreen ruffly is the same size as Ratchet and not Bumblebee's height. If it hasn't been said already.

Knockout should be bigger in your picture too. Personaly i don't think Skyquake and Dreadwing are quite that tall either. Shockwave should i think be about the size of Megatron...

Just wondering if anyone has used the Forge to get an idea of how tall the 13 (and by extension A3) would be. I know there's plenty of shots of the Forge being next to Optimus and at least one of Solus holding it.
