You have to admit, 16 episodes is a bit short to wrap up "this iteration" of the series if that's indeed the case. I'll take what I can get, since this is easily the best written series since Beast Wars. AEC = baaarrfff! But, you can't help but wonder if we're going back to the days when the showrunners would be passing off a 13-episode run as a full season. I mean, seriously, we weren't born yesterday. I know it takes cold, hard cash to make quality programming, but a paltry 16 episodes runs the risk of shoehorning plot lines to fit this reduced order. To put it into perspective, that's 10 less episodes than Seasons 1 and 2, or more than 2 full "T-named" episode arcs getting chopped out. Unless....the 16 episodes be 1 hour each? We can hope, right?

I'm thinking they are cutting back on episodes, but adding more quality and story to the 16 that they have. It means that we might get more per episode than we have before. That would be AWESOME.

Has it been said anywhere that (all of) season 3 is only 16 episodes?

All I get from the comments are that his recording and this iteration is 16 episodes long. I'm thinking they are just going to have a major event take place at episode 16, but the season will still finish in full. Maybe Combs/Ratchet is killed off and so his involvement is only 16 episodes. But especially considering the confusion on "the end of Prime" comments, I'm not sold on there being a shortened season just yet.

Hopefully this frees the budget up to have a few more character models.

We've probably got about the majority of a year till we find out about the length of season 3. Or, at least, quite a few months. We may find out a little early straight from the creators.

For all we know Season 3 is the last season Transformers Prime that will carry the subtitle "Prime" so it would make since that Series 3 will have a 32 episode run which would explain Transformers Prime having a 4 Season run as Season 4 would be the last 16 episodes of Series 3. Then Transformers Beast Hunters would be the follow up to Transformers Prime while Transfomers is back running at Theaters again.

I'd be happy with a 3rd and 4th season of 16 episodes each. I'm not too concerned about whether they introduce new characters or not. I'd rather they use less airtime to create more substance in each episode.

Maybe Season 5 will be Transformers Primal?

I'm with you. 16 episodes can be better than 26 if they aren't putting any filler in it or stuff that doesn't really have anything to do with the main storyline.

Maybe it's some gimmick to introduce the Dinobots into Prime.

Okay, I'll be honest. Even though I grew up with G1, I do not like the dinobots—as a concept.

In Prime, secrecy for the Autobots is paramount. How are they supposed to be "robots in disguise" if there are a bunch of giant, metal, supposedly-extinct reptiles running around Jasper?

Most Transformers fans love the Dinobots, and Hasbro no doubt wants to deliver since the toy sales etc. would be significant. However, to make it believable to the causal viewer or newcomer to the fandom, they are going to need a helluva hook. Enter "Beast Hunters."

    TF: Prime—with Dinobots.

    Just my two cents...

Honestly, I could see the dinobots working. Most of the battles in Prime do not actively occur around humans. While they use their disguises more than most shows have at this point into the show, they still don't need them for every mission. There's no reason they can't use the rest of team Prime for scouting and infiltration and call in the Dinobots later when the power is needed.

Some character from the 80s movie. I think he turned into a green helicopter or something.

Prime already have more episodes then Animated, but there are only several characters. There is no main story line and Dinobots cant save this. Well, Im not a big fan of Bayformers and I see handwriting here. I understand, its not easy to create a lot of robots in CGI, but this is why Animated was much better.

Actually we're now seeing that Prime's main story is indeed bringing back Cybertron which first stared with the Unicorn arc then in Orion Pax then later on we saw more hints to what project Iacon was really about which is to bring back Cybertron and now we're almost there to seeing if they suceed or not. So yeah that's actually it's main story.

Also Beast Wars didn't exactly have much characters either but it still came out good in the end despite that so why should'nt Prime do the same? And yes I understand the want for more characters but are they really the most important thing for a TF show that it's put above everything else in the show? I mean if done wrong you could have too many characters and not enough if not zero development which is the biggest complaint that people had with G1. Sometimes having a smaller cast makes development a lot better then just having a large one which was why Beast Wars was so sussceful.

Besides the 16 episodes for S3 will have them get enough money to make new character models for the show so if it helps that's the likely outcome.
