What're you on, that you think that'd actually hap- *sees name* Oh, oh... right.

I don't know man, if anything, a massive catastrophic failure would probably lead to a restructuring of the brand, but I doubt it would be as you're imagining. They'd probably shy away from a cinema release for a while (maybe not, depending on how GI Joe 2 does and their behavior in response), maybe focus on a repaint line or some other low-cost of development way of keeping the brand going for a little bit (ala Universe, G2, RiD, etc.), and then relaunch with a new focus and a new incarnation. I doubt this incarnation would be a rehash of Beast Wars, however, it'd likely be something entirely new.

Well a new cast is better than reusing the same crappy characters. Atleast we can get some new toys.

I agree.. but you give them too much credit.. most likely it won't be Beast Wars exactly.. but will be animal Transformers and they will act like it's a totally new concept never before done.

Yeah, you think all the CHUG stuff is so great? There's plenty of trash in there. I'll take Leader Prime, Brawl & Starscream over anything CHUG any day of the week.

If tf4 fails like you say that just means transformers are almost done. ROC failed for for gi joe and stores still don't take that line seriously.

I don't think so. Given how poorly reissued and reimagined "beast" characters have done in recent history (which is a shame, because I LOVE me some Beast Wars), and the massive kerfuffle that was Beast Machines, I doubt very much they'd be willing to go back to what they were doing 20 years ago in that regard. My guess would probably be they'd find some new gimmick, like making the entire thing take place in virtual reality / on a computer and tie it into an online game, or set a show in space again or on Cybertron.

I just don't see the incentivization from a business and marketing standpoint that would make a Beast Wars revival seem like an attractive business option for them. Unless for some reason they get desparate and use the new Battle Beasts revival from Japan as some kind of placeholder.

None of those are DOTM figures... and all leaders.

Of course fifty dollar toys designed by great artists/engineers are going to be great... but is the story or characterizations there in that franchise... hell no.

I'd be okay with that b/c it would just come back xx years later... like every goddamn thing in Hollywood.

No, they shouldn't have, and we go over this EVERY TIME THERE'S A Q&A. Hasbro tries their damndest to turn a blind eye to the 3rd party products, because they know that they fill a void Hasbro can't justify trying to fill on their own. But every time someone brings them up in a Q&A, they can't keep turning a blind eye towards any products mentioned, because it weakens their trademark. THAT is why they can't have 3rd party products sold at Botcon. THAT is why a lot of the news sites are silent on 3rd party products. Because the more they're talked about, the more they're reported on, the more they're shown around, the harder it is for Hasbro to turn a blind eye to them and still maintain their legal standing for going after things like KOs and other products that are legitimately harmful to the Transformers brand.

Actually your right, it'd probably be about cyber plant-life transformers... a la Botanica meets Digimon b/c as long as it's as stupid as possible they'll go for it, God... I love Hollywood.

Look at what Bay is going to do to TMNT's, and look at crap like the Resident Evil movie franchise.

Hollywood can't figure out that Avengers and TDKR were great b/c of the directors, they assume they made all that money b/c they are such old popular established brands.. which is only one piece of the puzzle.

My guess from the comments would be something like:

Optimus, BB and the previous cast in the start of the movie and discover a new threat, in space or something. So while they deal with some left over Decepticons they send out the Wrecker's, a human NEST team and new arrivals like Ultra Magnus, Hotshot, and Bulkhead to deal with the new threat. It turns out to be bigger than anyone thought and the new guys have to deal with it alone. Then at the end Optimus and Bumblebee come back to say "Thanks for saving the day."

-ZacWilliam, so cameos for old cast, but focus on the new is my guess.

I am really getting the feelin that Rodimus and his crew as well as Galvatron and his crew will be TF4. I could only hope that they actually implement the old 86 movie to tie in the new franchise. It would be slick..."you wanna know what happended between DOTM and TF4? Watch the 86 movie that we will be selling on blu ray and dvd

”TF3 toys didn't sell because it was all the same characters” If that's what they really think, Hasbro is in trouble.

I see none of this as good news. Especially the TF4 part. As for merchandising Prime, that doesn't mean toys, it could be backpacks and themed accessories.
