A friend and I have made a Transformers tabletop RPG and we are posting it here to spread the word and receive feedback. This runs on a simple percentage D100 system, called BRP (Basic Role-Playing). The game is a heavily modified Rogue Trader and Black Crusade, but dumbed down to be completely user-friendly and utterly customizable. You want to be a Dinobot with rocket fists and tanks for legs? You can. You want to be a jet with a construction crane? Of course you do. Have a group of friends that wants a new game or something to do? Try this! It works in any setting, and there are even stats to be a human. It is based on BRP and Rogue Trader. It is heavily modified and incredibly customizable. The game allows everyone to take any skill as they please, but only if they meet the prerequisites and pay the experience. The class system has been thrown out, for a more varied sense of gameplay. There is a new size system that allows players to roll a 1D100 to find height, where players can be the size of a minicon and human, to 100ft tall battle machines. So far I’ve attempted to balance as much as I could. The weapon system is much different from most games, as you start with a base weapon, and add modifiers and upgrades to that weapon. So you might start with a Broadsword, but later on in the game that sword will be an Energon laced Extended rocket propelled sword that explodes on impact. Your vehicle Transformations are more-or-less chosen by the player, and then modified using a point buy system for vehicles, where you can start off with more things on said vehicle, like ramming systems and such. You can find the rules and materials within this link. Transformers Tabletop BETA.rar You can reach the main creator of the RPG at [email protected] for information
Engine? Do you mean game system? I used the BRP (Basic Roll-Play) system, modifying Rogue Trader and Black Crusade to make a larger, more customizable system based on creation and imagination. I am actually working on rules for Starships and a Headmaster System for people who want to do that. The ships work on the same wounds and characteristics that players do so players could even be the ship, or a headmaster of a Transforming ship. Right now this is an early beta for testing balance and features, most of which have yet to be fleshed out as I have been working on that alone. It would be nice to get a team going for this, eventually, as it is time consuming alone. With a team that has more of a vast knowledge, they could collect itmes, machinery, and systems for the game, that I could then stat and put in the game. I also need fluff, eventually, for newer GMs that don't want to make everything themselves.
For those who care, I've complately reworked Combiners, added Headmasters, got most of the ship systems and ship fitting done. Stats for Combiners rely on bases of the characters that went in to them, instead of rolling for the stats based on how many there are. Some more changes include how Binary Bonding works. I was mistaken on it before. Now Binary Bonding is the connection between multiple players and characters, and it will be moved from skills to traits. Anyone have an idea of what they'd like to do or see in game? If you cannot already do it, id be happy to slap it in to the game. I am now reworking the entire character creation system. It needs it. The one in the beta was hastily thrown together as it was created.
The system is tailored to allow any setting for gameplay. Personally, I'm 'Game Mastering' our group's go at the sytem once we are finished, and my setting is inspired by the early days of Cybertron presented in IDW, and Prime. No Decepticons just yet, and dealing with their guerrilla tactics and espionage once they rise up.
Agility and jumping have been changed and balanced. Vehicles have been completely changed, as well as the system. Everything is being set to work and set agility for everything up the same, so vehicle, Transformer, and space ship agility is all interchangable and easily calculable. Ship combat will also have grappling, as well, just to be utterly insane if someone has the giant grappling claws. Either way, everything is being redone, that has to do with Transformations. Humans are getting special abilities, as well as Bio-organic Protoform systems. Over time, a lot will change, and I will upload my changes here if anyone wants to see them. But yeah, last night the changed system worked great.
I would check this out but I am currently at work and don't like to DL things onto the work computer. I myself have created my own TF table top RPG using a D10 system and goes off box stats for well stats lol. It's really simple, been running it for a few years and all my friends love it. So I'm interested to see what you are your friend did. Hell, I would love to talk TF RP's sometime.
Here is the newest beta of the tabletop! The system has been heavily modified, and Transformations have been overhauled. I will still need feedback, as I have literally received NONE, when the last had 400 downloads. The second beta is much different. There is a fleshed out character creation system, now. There is now a newly made ship and vehicle building system. Space combat and vehicle combat are now usable. Skills have been scaled down, and talents and traits have been upgraded and updated. Head Masters and Combiners now have usable rules, as well as requirements for such systems. Many things have changed. Try it out! Send feedback to [email protected] Transformers Tabletop BETA 2.rar
The final beta for the Transformers Tabletop is out! This is the first working, fully playable build meant for balance testing and so people can get their hands on it and get a good feel for what to expect when the final version finally comes out. Players will get to try the new character creation system. This begins with choosing the type of race or Transformer you are, and then building on from there with your height and rolled stats. You are able to fully customize everything you want about your Transformer, from size, height, color, shape, and style. You choose your weapons and items, how you want them to work, and you choose your skills, talents and traits. These flesh out your character, molding it uniquely. The Transformers Tabletop can take place in any universe that you please. Whether it is Animated, Prime, Energon, or G1, there is something for you and a system to work with you flesh out your own universe. Players work together for a common goal, solving mysteries and missions the GM makes for them. The GM creates a world for the players to adventure and battle in. Players and the GM choose what faction, what world, what universe, and what you want. Anything is possible. You can even create your own race and worlds to explore in the Transformer’s universe. You can get together in groups with people you know in real life, and even online, using such programs as Mumble and Skype. Games are played using D10s (Ten sided Dice). You will need at least two, as the game depends greatly on 1D100 (Two ten sided dice). “It is based on BRP (Basic Roleplaying) System. It is heavily modified and incredibly customizable. The game allows everyone to take any skill as they please, but only if they meet the prerequisites and pay the experience. The class system has been thrown out, for a more varied sense of gameplay. I got a decent amount of information on balance, and ideas to implement and create. The second Beta only gained roughly 200, and there was very little information that went through. Now I hope I can get a ton of downloads, with a lot of people testing and playing around with the system, so I know what to do when I compile and ready the final game. Message and contact me at [email protected] or send me an Ask here on Tumblr. Every bit of information, ideas, and questions are helpful, and I hope to get as many as I can. If you could, please reblog this so I can get as much assistance as I can get to make this agood, playable game that groups will be able to try. ‘BETA3.rar Thank you!
Just found this bad boy through 4chan and love the idea. A bit clunky for setup but amazing potential. I used Mutants & Masterminds in the past to create Transformers but this most defiantly worth a double check.
It looks pretty cool. I downloaded the Beta 1 and 2 (the third wasn't able to be downloaded, as perhaps the link is incorrect?).
Makes me want to dig out the old D20 system we made a couple years ago. we ran a game for a year and a half!
Man I wish my friends gave a crap about Transformers. They aren't interested in playing a game of this property at all.
Hello everyone! The Transformers Tabletop game is finally complete for now! Transformers Tabletop.rar The tabletop now has a fancy Handbook I created that goes in to explanation for absolutely everything. Ship combat is also a blast, I suggest trying it out at some point, letting your characters start out with a ship. Also, the game is also playable through Skype and other forms of online communication, for those who do not have any parties to play the game with in real life. I hope you all enjoy it. Also, sorry for not posting in the longest time, as I have no internet and very little time to actually be able to use a computer with internet access.
I generally fucked up. I left out the Combiner rules and the bodily traits rules. A SERIOUS DUN GOOF Transformers Tabletop.rar Upgraded
Difficulty First let me start by giving props where props are due. You guys did a lot of good work to get this thing where it is in BETA 2. However, I don't seem to be able to get BETA 3. When I click the link it just opens my MediaFire account. Was really looking forward to seeing what you added/changed. Never mind, looks like a case of "didn't see there was more to the thread" on my part. Thanks
