    Triplechangers and Headmasters and Targetmasters.

Missile Launchers... I hated them as a kid and still don't like them. I put the missiles always away, because I hate accidentaly shooting them. And I hate that the guns don't look good without the missiles. Doesn't count for Rodimus. His gun looks ridiculous with the flame inserted and without it looks like a hair dryer.

    edit:
Now that I think about it... maybe it IS an hair dryer, just a really hot one, hence the flame...

My favorite Gimmick is Aerial Docking. Jets that Attach to other Jets.
Because it Gives a play pattern to Air Battles.
If I had creative control I would probably make a whole series of transformers toys based around Jet combination. Dispatching multiple Drones from a voyager,
or Swaping Scouts between Larger figures to power them up with different weapon sets like a Sword and Shield, or Missile Pods.

Toys R Us exclusive Jetstorm and Classics Astrotrain.

    Animated Jetfire and Jetstorm

Mindwipe, Skystalker and their redeco Strafe and sunspot.

G2 Dreadwind, Smokejumper and its three redecos in RID, Robot Masters, and Beast wars 2.

    G1 Darkwing and Dreadwind.

Arguably Prime Soundwave and Laserbeak sort of do this gimmick.

I thought I was the only one that done that.

You ever made up a docking bay for your aircraft, with personnel(humans, minicons, or w/e) so they could fly in and get fixed up or armed? I do that crap all the time. I love being a 3X-year-old manchild. :ev:

I repurposed an Action fleet Death Star for a Robot repair yard idea years ago. Minicon mechanics could walk on the elevated platforms.

I no longer have it set up, but its in storage now.

Its mainly the 3mm clip system stuff going on in Transformers since 2010 that is really inspireing the possiblity of modular Equipment for Transformers toys.

There is this obscure cartoon I liked as a kid called ring raiders. It had a lot crazy super powered Aircraft concepts.

Winnah on all three! I once thought the Headmasters were too gimmicky; now I love them.

    And I'll take Pretenders.

I was just transforming Movie Voyager Ironhide and Robovision Prime last night. I had forgotten all about Automorph and was pleasantly surprised by it.

There was a cartoon of that? Zounds, I remember these from when I was a kid, in the UK I bought almost all the comics they put out. I don't know where those comics are now though. :(  They were awesome.

    *masters
    GOOD Automorph
    Mech Alive

    But most recently:
    -Alt-mode Weapon storage
-Mechtech weapons that both lock in both modes and both modes are actually something.

DotM's mechtech was a mixed bag, but the voyager-class ones were all pretty good. You basically got 2 weapons in one, and you could pose them with either. Megatron's and Shockwave's went a step further and actually had his weapon integrate into alt mode. While the rest were hit or miss and did not lock, at least they formed a weapon when not deployed.
Then came the Powerizers which were a huge step back. They go from "pile of junk" to something that mostly looks like a gun/sword. I understand that they can't lock because that'd wear the batteries out, but maybe they should have either scrapped the lights or had static weapons that could light up at the touch of a button.

    Mech Alive? Really?

I miss Mini-Cons, and admittedly I haven't gotten into Arms Microns at all, as cool as they seem. I could just do without the Powerlinx...ing. The Mini-Cons were best on their own, as accessories, like the ones that turned into varying weapons...

I should just look into buying Arms Microns. Jeez.

And completely unrelated, but every time I pass a glance at this thread's title I read it as "Grimlocks you miss?" for some odd reason.

Masters and Minicons. For me there is no better accessory to pack with a TF than another tiny TF.
Some of the AM figures are OK, but they're a bit lacking IMHO. I'd rather they be more like a true figure than a simple model kit. I do really like the Optimus, Bee and Bulkhead ones though.

Non-"attack mode" Triple Changers, or at least have the "attack mode" actually resemble something (i.e. Transquito's resembles a whip spider).

    C-clip weapons.

Here I go, thinking of weird stuff because I'm trying to post half asleep again, but how about vehicle fuzors? Like a car/dump truck or a motorcycle/helicopter.
