Megatron did survive ground zero of a space bridge explosion. Maybe it kept Cliff alive. Although Megatron is more durable and in better shape and the mine most likely had more energon to explode than the space bridge. And even if Cliff did survive, they'd have to find a way to unzombi him while keeping his spark active which would only be active due to the very same thing making him a zombi.

I really don't see Cliffjumper coming back at all. I imagine most of this episode will be flashbacks, similar to Predatory.

Megatron was an exception because A: He's the freaking leader of the Decepticons and B: He plunged a Dark Energon shard inside himself when he was still alive. It's now the only think that's keeping him alive.

Three things put it on the remotely possible list.

Dark Energon caused Megatron to survive things that would have killed other robots on the show. The damage he took from the space bridge explosion was far worse than the damage Hardshell took.

The Hub has pulled the back from the dead after a huge explosion in GI Joe Renegades with Ripcord. It was far enough into the season that people were saying the same things about he's dead and he's never coming back because no one could have survived that, except Snake Eyes.

They have a different voice actor so using Cliffjumper wouldn't depend on finding those small windows of free time when the Rock could do some voice acting.

I still think the next episode is a flashback, but I've read enough comic books and watched enough TV to not put down a return as totally completely impossible, just not likely.
