2003: In an attempt to bolster support for the Autobot cause, Optimus Prime tasks Jetfire and Cloudburst with exploring the galaxy to find new allies in their fight against the growing Decepticon threat. Megatron, realizing Optimus Prime's plan, commands the fearsome Thunderwing to persue, stalk, and destroy the two Autobot explorers at all cost. 2004: After several close calls, Jetfire and Cloudburst are finally confronted by Thunderwing on the small ringed planet of Robaan. Thunderwing successfully subdues Cloudburst as a ruse, in order to draw out the more formidable Jetfire, and engage him in one on one combat. The two aerial combatants wage a vicious battle, but it is Thunderwing who delivers the fatal blow, leaving Jetfire a crippled wreck. Having withstood a withering beating from Jetfire, and paranoid about possible interlopers, Thunderwing retreats to deep space, and begins limping home to Cyberton. From a distance, Cloudburst witnessed the carnage, realizing that he was too late to help his friend. He watched Thunderwing transform and rocket away from the battlefield as he rushed to Jetfire's side. Knowing there was no possibility of survival, Jetfire brought his friend in close and said, "Do not let everything we have learned...everything we have seen go to waste. Do not let the Decepticons mark this day as a victory...rather as a day to fear...As my spark fades, so shall yours be reborn...and with its rebirth comes a new era of suffering for the Decepticons." 2005: Cloudburst returns to Cybertron only to find that much like himself, Cybertron was no longer the same. Unicron defeated, the Decepticons routed...his beloved leader dead...it was a difficult reality to accept. This difficulty was only amplified by the skepticisim of his Autobot comrades. They didn't understand...they weren't there when Jetfire willingly merged his dying spark with him. They couldn't fathom the sacrifice Jetfire made. All they saw was the shell of a former friend wrapped around the small, passive Cloudburst. A Cloudburst who existed in a past that seemed impossibly far away. Stats- Cloudburst utilizes twin, liquid hydrogen powered scramjets in addition to his main thrusters for breathtaking acceleration, and interstellar travel. He is armed with two, dual rotating, double barreled particle beam cannons, two rotating photon pulse cannons, and two handheld ion disruptors. Strength: 6 Intelligence: 9 Speed: 10 Endurance: 5 Rank: 4 Courage: 9 Firepower: 7 Skill: 9 I had a junker Jetfire lying around, and I had seen a bunch of Jetfire re-do's and re-configs on the boards lately...I caught the bug, and decided to see what I could do with the guy. I basically replaced his arms with Generations Red Alert and added the dual rotating blasters to the wrist where Red's doors attached...gave him a new head, and some greebles on his legs... The wings were re-located to the jetpack, which had been re-built and stylized. His vertical tails are from Animated Starscream, and they are mounted on a couple of quick scratch built hinges that allow the fins to fold in or out in either direction. Very little painting...just cutting, fitting, gluing, filling and sanding went into this guy. I still have to finish detailing the jetpack, filling in where the wings used to be (possibly adding a pair of recessed launchers), reprolables to cover up the upside down Autobot tags, and probably some panel lining. I built this guy up over a weekend, and am absolutely in love with the desciple of Jetfire type concept. He is still able to wear the rediculously oversized Jetfire helmet as well. I felt this was necessary in order to maintain the integrity of the nose area, and not have two gaping holes on either side of the cockpit...plus hey! More guns! My favorite parts of this custom are how the tail fins peek out just above his main wings in 'bot mode, and his head. A shout out to my buddies from the boards that gave me bits of ideas and inspiration for this figure. Thanks for looking!
VERY nice! I like that there is very little painting yet looks like a totally different figure and character.
Wow.. very interesting... I've been tinkering with my own Jetfire recently, doing some fairly big mods, so this is neat to see. You've made some alterations I haven't seen anyone else attempt, which is cool. Looks great! zmog
So you went with Cloudburst huh? lol nice bro, like i told you, that is a Sweet ALT & Bot mode. How did you make the visor?
I'd like to see the figure painted red and dark gray, but I really like the rest of the work you've done here
Bigger wings maybe!! Thanks! That was the great thing about this guy...just sat down with him and a pile of spares...I was glad to get something worked out. Thank you! Yeah it was seeing other people do alterations that made me pick him up in the first place. There's alot going on with this figure, so there's alot of potential options. Thank you for the kind words! Yeah man thanks!!! You saw the list of names LOL I just said F it and went for it. Better than "Monistat 4", or "Roll AIDS" hahaha. The visor came free with the head!!! I used a junker Build Team Hightower. Thank you! I know what you mean about the original Cloudburst deco...he was rocking the blue face too...I was thinking about incorporating more of the dark gray, but before I got that far I really fell in love with the red/white thing he had going on...It's never too late I suppose ha! Awww don't cry buddy! It's just a story! I bet some fruit punch will make you feel better...You want some fruit punch???? Besides...Jetfire didn't really die...he lives on inside Cloudburst...which is ironic I suppose since this fig is mostly Cloudburst inside of Jetfire LOL! Which is like a triple irony in the sense that as a Pretender, Cloudburst is used to wearing other Autobots...hold on...I think a hole in the time space continuum is starting to open next to my workbench. Yup dude...you've worked with this guy so you know...I guess I like this figure alot more now that I know his potential. Thanks again everyone!
That's pretty cool there. I like the match up you did with the parts and apps - Now you have to do a G1 Skyfire!
Thanks! You've probably never seen my Skyfire with the rediculously undersized head... Skyfire is a project that I will definately re-visit further down the road LOL
Wow! Thread Jesus! Thanks for the compliment and suggestions! I love any and all feedback no matter how old the project is. This guy still has a prominent spot in the middle of my collection as he is simply one if my favorites. Thank you!
