Why is everyone giving this game such mediocre reviews? And from what I've seen, it's because of stupid reasons as well.
^ This. Every review that I have seen, with the exception of Gamespot have given it a 8.5-ish score. Those are great scores for a game in the Transformers franchise, or any game. Last time I checked it was scoring 83 on metacritic. I read the review on Gamespot and it seemed overly hash. I either didn't agree or felt his criticisms were overblown. Gamespot has a tendency to underscore their games (see Zelda: Skyward Sword), so I don't rely on them. I usually only look at the metacritic score for a game when I am on the fence about it.
Links please? Because as others have stated...I've also only seen good reviews. With the exception of Gamespot (but they are mess anyways) That's an average.
Well maybe there weren't TOO many people giving it bad reviews. But I read the Gamespot review and it ticked me off at how stupid their reasons are haha
Yeah yeah you guys are all right it just seriously...who else thought the last fight was a "joke"? As Gamespot put it.
Because the game isn't amazing? Not saying its fun, because it certainly is, but comparing it to other things on the market, it really isn't amazing at all. Set aside your nostalgia and your love of transformers for a second. This game is a linear A to B fest with set pieces that are only neat on the first itme through. Playing through it once is really all you need to do, and the campaign is relatively short. Game mechanics like vehicles aren't anything more than a go fast mode or improved like the shooting was. A lot of actions were removed or dumbed down from WFC, with little taken and really changing up the formula. The game gets repetitive at points, thanks to a lack of enemy variety and bad AI (most don't even transform anymore). Multiplayer is nothing but a deathmatch fest. It's fun, but nothing groundbreaking to write home about.
Different strokes for different folks I guess...because personally this is one of my favorite games of all time. I had more fun with this game than I have had with others in a long time. And seriously, as long as it's fun, who the **** cares what else? I hate people who put fun games down just because the "graphics" or because the multiplayer isn't the best in the world. I mean come on people. Games were made to be fun and I think High Moon did a better job at making an AMAZING game with a lower budget than all of these games with "amazing graphics" or "groundbreaking multiplayer. Give me a break....
The blunt, blunt truth is that no matter what, Transformers fans will always try to rationalize how amazing and how great the game is regardless of the truth. I think FoC is pretty good, but it isn't anywhere near being the "best." Vanquish and Dark Souls come to mind when it comes to that. I like FoC and it's one of the best Transformers games out there I feel, but it isn't "the best game ever" by far.
Every fandom wants its "Arkham Asylum" game. The game they can brag to normal folks about and not look like crazy people. I wasn't even a big fan of Arkham. It was fun, but it was also a repetitive as fuck Batman re-skin of every stealth game that had come before.
Why can't we think it's the best for us and leave it at that? It's our damn opinion. I have never even heard of the games you are talking about...
Underrated? No. Does it deserve a 9? No. The sad truth is that, well the story is nice, but short, and the multplayer isn't really anything special. No offence to all you multiplayer junkies, but that's not what games are about. They should be about hard boss fights, long stories and stuff to do alone after the main story is done. You don't need your fancy multiplayer or modes where you fight hordes of enemies, you just a good time, and honestly, less is more in a videogame. Focusing on one thing in the game, which in my case is the story mode, should always be the important thing. Point is, the game doesn't deserve a 7, but it also doesn't deserve a 9 or a 10.
