Hi guys, I just ordered a Battle Tanker set. I do not have a G2 laser Prime yet though. I'm torn between the RTS version and the United version. Which version do you guys think better fits the set? Sometimes it's hard to tell from online pictures, in-hand it could look different. RTS is cheaper and I like the orange windows and the two colored arms. The United one looks really good in alt mode though. What do you guys think?

This is the image that finally sold me on Battle Tanker. It is exactly the scale I'm looking for.

I'm leaning towards RTS at this point. Don't really want to shell out $45+ dollars for the United one when it will rarely be out of the armor anyways. Plus I like the contrast the orange windows give it. The blue doesn't do it for me.

 

I went with the RTS version first, but I ended up grabbing a United version when it was restocked on BBTS.

The blue vs orange windows and sword weren't the deciding factor for me, it was the color of gray on the replacement crotch piece and BT altmode vs the RTS/United gray that made me want to switch.

I don't have my United OP in hand yet, few more days before it arrives. I waited for set C of yellow Giant to drop in my PoL before I shipped it. Once it arrives I'll know for sure if I made the right choice or just wasted $45. lol.

 

Let me know what you think when you get it in-hand. Trying to acquire a RTS now for a good price. Either way, next week is going to be a good one.  

 

Scored a MOSC RTS g2 prime for 16 shipped. Nice!

 

My PoL shippment from BBTS finally arrived and I must say, I am SUPER happy that I grabbed the United version of G2 OP!

The gray plastic color of the MT replacement crotch piece matches almost perfectly. Much better than the RTS version. The extra paint apps of the United version look soooooooo sweet. The fade from red to black on the hood and black doors make the altmode look excellent with BT in Tanker mode.

All in all though, all of these upgrades (in my eyes at least) are mostly prevelent in altmode and when OP isn't armored. So if you keep your RTS OP armored up 90% of the time, the difference between the two (United/RTS) are negligible.

I am extremely happy that I went ahead and grabbed the United version, and I definitely recomend it if you can get your hands on one, but congrats on finding that RTS version iphdtd, I hope you're happy with it when it gets to you.

 

My RTS Prime arrived a few days ago. He's smaller than I thought. My Battle Tanker armor should arrive today though so he'll be buffed up this evening  

 

I think you'll enjoy it! I recomment following the suggestion in the BT instructions to trim the peg on his right shoulder.


Personally, I love this mold, and both versions go well with the tanker armor. FWIW (now that you've already picked one), I think the armor matches the RTS version slightly better (mostly because of the shoulders), while the United version is the better looking of the two by far when the armor is absent. I also highly recommend the Reprolabels upgrade stickers for RTS Optimus. They make the figure look significantly classier in both modes, and go quite well with the armor upgrade. The chromed grill and bumper stickers do wonders alone. I'd leave the shoulder stickers off though.

Can someone list all the necessary things to watch out for when putting this figure together for the first time? I already know to be super-gentle with the head and to put it in boiled water for 1 minute. Anything else?

 

^^ Sanding the balljoint of the neck is more effective to be honest.
I'd be careful when rotating the 'arms' of the trailer. If you can grip the circular piece, rotate that piece directly rather than using the arms.
