I always thought Tailgate sounded like Gigan from Monster Island Buddies.

    H'guys.

lets see... I imagine most of the characters with their voices from the show. Ratchet i imagine has animated ratchets voice, and this might sound odd.. but chromedome kinda sounds like wolverine to me "and there was me thinking you'd invited me along for my dry wit". also, i would recommend not going on tumblr if you dont want to see some yaoi hentai... no seriously i searched for a voice over of mtmte on tumblr and i got chromedome sucking rewinds... piston... yeah im never going on there ever again...

    MTMTE:
Reading Whirl as Roberto makes him that much more fun, I'm half expecting one day someone to walk in to Whirls quarters to find him practising his stabbing, haha.
Ultra Magnus, Rodimus, Perceptor, Blaster and Cyclonus - their respective voices from the G1 cartoon.
Good spot, reading back Stephen Merchant as Tailgate really works.
    Skids - David Tennant.
    Ratchet - Prime Ratchet.
    Drift - Prime Wheeljack.
Rung - Kind of a generic intellectual English accent, not posh, but well-spoken.
Rewind - Brooklyn accent, like in those Tumblr voiceovers.
Brainstorm - based on Rodimus' comments in #2, similar to Perceptor, only with a gigantic ego.
Swerve I read with my own voice, the way he talks is pretty much how I talk in real life.

    RID:
Bumblebee, Wheeljack, Blurr, Ironhide, Shockwave - G1 cartoon voices.
    Starscream - Prime Starscream.
Metalhawk - A bit like Jetfire in WFC.
    Arcee - Prime Arcee.
    Bombshell - BW Tarantulas.
Sky Byte - RID Sky Byte, of course.
Prowl - Chase from Rescue Bots if he weren't so straight laced.
    Broadside - Prime Bulkhead

Tarn has recently been sounding like Boris Karloff to me.

For most of the big names, I default to their G1 cartoon voice still.

A few of the exceptions are Magnus, Ratchet and Arcee. I can't place the actors where I've gotten Magnus & Ratchet's voices from as I read...Ratchet sounds like an older Midwesterner. Magnus...maybe a generic American version of Liam Neeson? Arcee is Jennifer Connelly.

Flashing back to LSotW (for the most part), I've thought of a more demonic version of Patrick Stewart for Overlord. Impactor is Adam Baldwin. Richard Epcar (Batou from GitS) is Roadbuster.

For Swerve, it's been Jason Gann. Not sure how that happened, but that's what I've used. Tailgate is Josh Radnor.

Cyclonus is Christopher Plummer. Metalhawk is Michael Sheen. Brainstorm is Orlando Bloom. Tarn is Keith David.

There are others, but I forget them now. They come back to me when I'm in the middle of reading stuff.

Naa...Whirl isn't that type of crazy.

He's more "Dead Pool" than "Agent of Chaos" Joker.

God, I was thinking of starting a topic like this a couple months ago.

Most of the established characters from the cartoon, I hear their established voices. Rodimus and Magnus I hear with their movie voices (Judd Nelson, and Robert Stack)

    Whirl - Denis Leary
    Rung - Noah Taylor
Chromedome - Michael Sinterniklaas' Leonardo from the 2003 TMNT toon
Swerve - Seth Rogan (seriously, try reading him with his voice in mind)
Cyclonus - (Gotta say, next time I read an issue I'm gonna have a hard time not imagining a Steven Blum take on him)
    Fort Max - Patrick Warburton
    Tailgate - Steve Carrell
    Drift - John Cho

Drawing a blank now... need sleep.

    Tarn-Mark Hamill
Ultra Magnus-D.C. Douglas (Chase from Rescue Bots, FYI)
Skids-Nolan North (in a calmer Dead Pool-esque voice)
Whirl-Bumper Robinson (TFA Bumblebee- less screechy)

If they were in the original cartoon, then they tend to get the voice they had there.

Deadpool has been what my brother pictures for Tarn, though that's the voice I use for Swerve myself.

My brain decided that Chromedome was Garrus Vakarian and now it won't stop.

    Hey, that's a good one!

After reading RID no.8, I can't help but hear Bob Odenkirk (Saul Goodman on Breaking Bad) voicing Swindle. I could also see Bob working for Swerve as well, but to a lesser extent.

One more that crossed my mind--- John DeLancie as Brainstorm.

When I read comics, my brain makes up an original voice for everyone other than the characters we already have a cartoon voice. It seems like everyone else hears a specific actor when they read... *shrug*

Crashboombanger is amazing! A few of his voices I think aren't what I would personally choose (Swerve and Rewind, specifically), but most of them are fantastic. He's a perfect Drift, IMHO, and his Tarn is really good too. I'm hoping one day he'll get ambitious and voice an entire issue.

Ha, that's brilliant! Swindle defaults to his Animated voice for me, but I can see Bob fitting him perfectly.

I can't read a single Whirl speech bubble without hearing Roberto from Futurama.

I think the tone Ratchet is written in favors Jeffrey Combs quite a bit. I'll agree with Josh Perez who said David Hyde Pierce for Rung.
