Damn it.. between these and Uranus my wallet's gonna be sucked dry for a good long time to come. Right now I prefer these 3rd party products to the G1 toys. Am I crazy?

 

Why would you be crazy to prefer toys that are marketed directly for your tastes versus toys that are marketed primarily towards people much younger?

 

In the same boat as u. I get this idea in my mind that these third party combiners will go for way more money than the original G1's will, far down in the future...Hell, TFC Hercules already costs more than almost all types of loose/mib G1 combiners...

 

I feel sorry for collectors joining us 10-20 years from now. I get the feeling CLASSICS and all 3P items revolving around CLASSICS will surpass G1 stuff by a lot. I don't even want to know what CLASSICS AND 3P will be worth a decade from now. G1+modern engineering+extremely limited but look better than the official stuff 3P Classicverse= mucho denero.

 

^ Include MP's. I think MP will be the line that makes the most $$$$ in 10-20 yrs from now as well.....Especially if the line continues, oh lord people will be selling organs  

 

I go back and forth on this, but I generally think in 10 years, there will be a "new classics" and people won't care about the current (?) line anymore. The earliest stuff (pretty much all the actual "classics" and most of Universe) is already looking quite dated to me. I think it's possible that secondary market prices have already peaked.

I'd like nothing more than to be wrong here, mind you.

MPs are perhaps a different story, although I don't expect much if any price gains on MP 1-7.

 

Totally agree on both points...

Some of the stuff I see posted (even a couple year old 3P stuff) already looks outta place with the new toys we're seeing these days...

This even applies to GIJOE, where the 25th line looks dated due to the new stuffs incredible sculpts...

10-20 years from now, the stuff we gush over now will be like the tin toys our fathers played with...if we even care by that time

 

My ex couldn't believe how much city commander was going for a while ago and said why don't you sell it. I reply "Well if I sell you I would almost break even...." I moved out shortly afterwards.  

I gotta agree with Bill the classics change and flux so much. And it may depend on characters and rarity. I see Astrotrain go for $20-$40 while Ratchet goes for $100+. Some of the factors will become obsolete after a while and I think the price may go up. But nothing astronomical.

 

By all accounts what's the next FP release? Also are the "deluxe" insecticons the vehicle ones or are they two different things?

 

Assaulter next and deluxe insecticons and warbugs are different.
