I for one, am glad these are ending. They were good, yes. But once this restarts, we can actually get COMIC BOOK movie Batman, which is what the actually fans have been wanting for a while, nolanites piss off, we don't need the ultra realistic stuff, as stated, it was good for what it was. But, there is a reason Avengers and the Marvel movie-verse are gaining so much steam, they are actually.....wait for it....comic movies. When I see Nolan say he was inspired and references everything under the sun EXCEPT for comics, it's kinda insulting as a comic fan
no offence to the avengers, but they are generic movies with not much to them, it is quiet a soulless movie, that is very predictable, its a little bit better than transformers, but that is it, a fun popcorn movie nothing more, nothing less. No offence to iron man, Thor, captain america, HULK, you name it, they are not exactly amazing films, just your very predictable comic book movies, that I do find are forgetful and pridictable. I will revisit these movies, but never gone into them and thinking the hero is in trouble, that is where Nolan comes into play Nolan has set the standard in the comic book genre, that I do not think will ever be matched in a long long time. Nolan went into the heart and mind of Bruce Wayne/Batman himself, and created a character that was compelling and complex, that it was fascinating seeing how fragile and miserable Bruce actually was, and seeing him rise and fall from Grace. We have never had that in a comic book movie, seeing the superhero a shell of a human being, that was outmatched physically and mentally by Bane, mentally scared by the Joker and his family's and Rachel's death. One critic said about the Bruce Wayne/Batman character in the Nolan trilogy, Bruce was his own worst enemy, not the joker, Bane, Ra's, Scarecrow, the mob, but Bruce himself, the way he was always fighting his own demons mentally and physically. And will we ever get that kind of depth in a hero like Batman? no way. Will they ever they reboot the franchise again? yes, and that worry's me, esp if its done to early Yes they will return batman to the same old boring comic book style from the first 4 movie's, to much batman, the villains back in their former glory, but they will probably be forgetful. Will that be a good thing? yes and no, I say mostly no, because Batman is way to fresh. They need to let Bats rest until atleast 2018 or 2020. Just leave the Batman rest for a long time, esp after the masterpiece trilogy Nolan's created. How the hell can a director even match what Nolan created? Give it 7 years, even 8 years, then make perhaps more batman films
Boy, aren't you a charmer? I'm a Batman fan, and I'm positively dreading a comic-style Batman movie where he fights supervillains like Croc or Mr. Freeze. Also yes, Avangers and the Marvel movies in general seem generic. And Nolan has said he was inspired greatly by Batman: Year One.
this I totally agree didn't we get the comic book style batman films of the first 4 batman films? and what did we get? a stupid Gothic tone, and then they went the other extreme, and made it so campy, many could have got epileptic fits including me. I do not get the love with the avengers, it was a meh, many thought there was way to much love for TDK, the avengers are taking the biscuit. That final 30 mins of rises, hit my heart with a thousand knives, my hands were sweating, that was how much I was on the edge of my seat. Despite my problems with rises, the action in rises owns the avengers. Yea the avengers was that unpredictable, yea how can one villain like loki defeat the entire avengers? its like trying to beat a bear in an eating competition, on how many burgers you can eat in 3 mins. We all know who will win that one
Let's see you have Year One, Tales of the Demon, The Long Halloween, and a short 1970's story called The Man Who Falls for Begins; The Killing Joke, The Long Halloween again, and Batman #1 for The Dark Knight; and Knightfall, Bane of the Demon, No Man's Land, and The Dark Knight Returns for Rises. No, I wouldn't say the comics influenced the movies at all.
I thought year one had a big impact on the style of the Nolan trilogy, even though year one was more violent
As much as I also am looking forward to a more comic book inclined Batman that can slot in with Superman and Wonder Woman for a Justice League film, there's no reason to be such a prat about it. It isn't like The Dark Knight trilogy have been bad films, for the first two at least its quite the contrary. Rises I need to see again, and alone, for me to make my final judgement.
You know, even though I clearly don't share your disdain for the Nolanverse, if the new batman movies are more 'comicy' it could really work, if handled very well, of course. It could even be the greatest! I think a lot of people tend to forget it's Nolan that has made Batman more realistic than it acutally is so infact he's not as close to the source material as people would have you think, not taking anything away from his brilliant work. Batman has always has a sci-fi element to it, infact I think it was Incepticon who hit the nail on the head when he described the Arkham city and Asylum games as the epitome of the batman world-grounded in reality with a nice balance of fantasy, somewhere in between the Nolanverse and a not so far out there episode of Heroes! To each his own, but I don't know why some people are actually against it, particularly the ones that enjoyed the 90's animated series and the comics which both had (have) the fantasy element to them. Like I said, if handled very well it could be brilliant but then again Nolan's movies will be very difficult to top!
I've been a fan of comic book Batman for decades now, so please don't think you speak for me. I do not need or even want COMIC BOOK movie Batman. If I want COMIC BOOK Batman stories, I can read the comic books, which I do.
I just saw this and was completly blown away. Such an amazing movie. I cant people are already talking about a reboot. These films are going to be hard to top...
Batman Community "WB we the fans want you to take The Batman Property seriously" WB "Per your request here is Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy" Batman Community "WB The Dark Knight Trilogy was too Serious. We want the next Batman Film series to be more Comic Book'ish." WB "Per your request we have hired Joel Schumacher" Batman Community "n-Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo." Bottom line the community bitches about everything. You wanted a more serious Batman you got it and for 3 films you did nothing but bitch the whole time. A fact well noted one sadly that will continue throughout the next several Post Nolan films.
I do not want a generic batman movie the like avengers etc, and the thing that does worry me is? when they do reboot it yet again, they will try and redo the origins again, and we were already given that, its to fresh. We saw how poorly handled the amazing spiderman was, the thing is? we do not really need batman for the foreseeable future, we got a masterpiece trilogy. And yes going back to the more comic book style could work, but its all been done. For me there is nothing more left for the Batman franchise to do, no matter if they can milk it more, the Nolan trilogy was the peak for Batman. We got the films, both comic book style and a more serious take. We were given the animation series in all its glory, great movies good or bad. But the thing is? if they reboot it to soon, how can they top Nolan's trilogy especially trying to recast the joker, give Bats a break. There is another thing between the first 4 batman films, and then Nolan's, and that was? time span. There was a big difference in time span between Burton's Batman films, and then Nolan's, returns 93 then Begins 05. Even Batman and Robin 1997, Batman Begins released in 05. So much like when one bad film almost destroyed the movie franchisee, another resurrecting it, and leaving on a high note, it still deserves the time and energy before revisiting the series again. So I say let it go, for almost the same time span as they left Batman and Robin, and introduced us to Begins.
Well, as people kept saying to me about Transformers, this isn't about you. Its about money making. Call The Avengers generic all you want, it was a 1.4 billion dollar return their investment. DC/Warner Bros. will want a piece of that pie, and the only way they're going to get it is with Justice League and you don't get that without Batman.
Remember what happened when The Wachowski Siblings released The Matrix every post-Matrix film, Tv-Series or Video Game copy pasted "Bullet-Time" to death. Now in the Post-Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy world every Comic Property from Spiderman (which is a different shade of Dark all together Mind You) to X-Men is going to be made as Dark as The Dark Knight Trilogy as possible and these films will fail because: (1) If they weren't Dark, or Depressing to begin -- then taking a comic property that has none of this content and turning it into something it is not is rather pointless. Now Back to Batman We have had several strong successive Tv-Series, Straight to DVD-Films, 2 Strong Video Games, and 2 Different Era of Batman Films that have ruled the Box Office (The Burton & Nolan Eras). I feel that if they don't have a clear idea of where the want to go with a 3rd Batman Film Series that they should just do stand alone films adapted from the Graphic Novels to play it safe.
i'll welcome a batman reboot years from now. i also want a live action batman beyond movie. last thing, i'm not a hardcore dc fan but if dc/wb really wants a justice league movie why did they let nolan do superman? is that superman going to be in the same universe as the new batman or are they going to reboot superman again?
the avengers of Thor HULK etc, well if we do not count ang lee's HULK, they have never been done before, that is the difference. Batman has been done to death. And a justice league is another worry, that means we will probably get very rushed batman films, without much planning put into it. It took a trilogy that Nolan give us, to restore batman from the disaster that was B and R, but they need to let batman rest a while. But I do think, if they plan to do a justice league, I can see very rushed batman films, just for them to do a justice league, and that is damaging for the quality of future batman films. It will make a billion dollars, but that does not mean it will be good. They were lucky with the avengers, who says for the justice league, we get a director that is not has good as joss whedon, and it flops. So they better think careful, before doing a justice league, and put has much planning into the next series
I have an idea... WB should do a more Scifi Oriented Batman film Series. WB could technically do the 1st 2 films for the NEW Batman Series at the same time. 1 Live-Action 1 Animated both having a 2 Hour 30 Minute Run Time.
Nolan's only producing the movie while Zack Snyder is directing. Part of me thinks Nolan's involved in name only, so WB/DC can capitalize on the success of his Dark Knight trilogy. Nolan's Dark Knight universe is totally separate from Snyder's Man of Steel universe. The only way Superman will be rebooted again is if Man of Steel completely fails at the box office.
