that head design is nasty!


what was wrong with the original head design?

 

WOW. That human-like face sucks.
I really liked the one that appeared on the poster with the big F%&@*#$! gun ALOT more.
This whole "battle-mask" crap has got to stop. It just doesn't make sense. It hurts the character's originality and iconic appearance. In almost every transformers series Optimus Prime & Megatron had faces/heads that never changed much. They had certain characteristics that stayed with them so that someone could look and say "Hey! That HAS to be Optimus!" It's meant to help identify the character and keep a sense of tradition.
Prime has a faceplate, Megatron has a helmet. I can live with the robot mode and battle face but the "humanoid" face looks absolutely terrible.
And as for the eyes, I can,live with them. Just as long as they emit a bright enough light to appear like optics and then look all "mechanical" when they dim or die out.
Why can't they just make his faceplate move up and down like it always has? Oh well..........Here's hoping this is just a concept and not final. But in truth, I should not complain. For all we know, we could be getting the characters the way we want to see them. After all everything we've been seeing so far is conceptual artwork.

 

Wow. they made him look even worse than he did before! The chest area looks okay, I can see what parts of the truck make up the chest. But now the head!! Ugh! Ulgy! He looks like fuckin' General Grievous! They better fix this shit.

 

to make note, if it hasnt been cleared up yet, those shots with the full body are just the same as the concept stuff that was leaked weeks ago. So its older than the poster.

Outside of that, I love that peice of machinery.

 

This is just a clearer shot of the concept art that was shown a few months back. The newer poster looks better. This head sculpt sucks and I hope it's completely different.

Still don't understand the point of the exposed innards. You'd figure a lifeform that's supposedly (who know how old they are in this film) millions of years ahead of us would have evolved some sort of "skin" for their innards. At least there faces are covered when they go into battle. You know, because getting shot in the ribs doesn't mean anything.

Maybe their nads are on their faces or in their helmets or something?

They took the time to recognize that he also is part of the Transformers race.


I think things like this are key, and need to be reckognized by most fans as a potentialy good thing, and not a upset.

Oh BTW, looks like whoever made the post about the TFs not having mouth's.....WRONG!

 

Why is Prime so sad? And without the face plate he looks way older than Megatron. I thought he was younger.

 

I'm not at all keen on the face. Other than that, I still love the design.

 

I guess, experience is key to beet someone, a few feet taller than you....I mean younger means les experience, but more fiered up and cocky......Prime isnt cocky, he is a great leader and I saysince he is older....slower but keen for the takedown.

 

in the previous shot he had a visor over his eyes..is that missing... or did they take that out. because with it he didn't look so bad... yeah this is not a good developement. =( but it might be too early to comment. just like the bumblebee photos. i really shouldn't look anymore...when is the real trailer coming out? what we see on the site is a teaser, i hope.

I like it, too. Definitely looking forward to seeing the whole thing in action - I get the impression that the face will look better once the eyes have some lighting effects.

 

Pros: The design is pretty neat. Notice that the legs are primarily blue and the upper torso is primarily red? That's cool. It's almost as if somebody might actually be listening. Or not.


Cons: The feet still look absolutely ridiculous and I'm really confused what's going on with the "excessive piston" look at the toes. It looks unnecessary and...ugly. I don't like that. Also, the beak/faceplate should be Prime's face naturally, in my opinion. Dude looks stoned, too.

Final judgment: Buh. Still not convinced. It looks neato, but...I dunno. Like a lot of folks have been saying, there are a lot of little things that should be tweaked in his design.

 

He looks like a cross between Ultra Magnus, Transmetal Primal AND Vector Prime without the flace plate. The mouth seems to low and the Eyes to wide apart. But with it on he looks like Optimus 3000.

 

Funny thing is... that "face" looks better than the actual face  

Hope you're right. Not only because the Prime on the poster looked better, but because it gives me hope that Megatron may end up looking better than the concept art we've seen.
