It doesn't look like he has eyes at all. Maybe he ripped them out after seeing Megatron?

I still like the design overall, and it's great to see the details in this artwork.

The faces they've come up with still turn me off though. I really don't see why they felt it necessary to go that route. I guess we'll find out when the movie's released though.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that that is NOT how Optimus Prime's face will look in the movie. As a matter of fact, that face isn't even real. It's been digitally pasted onto the body from another source. Not sure if it was an early concept face or not, but that pic has been digitally altered.

Wait for a later leak to see what he will actually look like as far as head design or just wait for the movie. Curtail your fears, I guarantee you that this isn't legit.

That's not the same design that we saw on the poster. I'll just assume this is not a final image. There are a lot of unfinished pieces on this image, ie: floating circles and such. As for the face, I think they'll have to go with something more Primish in the end. There's no way anyone will "be down with" a Prime that looks like that. In fact, the head (although obviously containing some similarities to Optimus Prime) looks like it belongs to a completely different robot. Soundwave and Optimus were always similar. This just doesn't look like Prime. This head looks far too long for my taste, and sheesh -- there's nothing to identify with on the face. Bad design.

Looking at it again, the stanard-mode face looks like this Prime has a very low mouth and a large vampire bat-like nose. Either that or a metallic baboon. Ha. Maybe it's Optimus Primal? ::dies:: I guess I'm just supremely tired of being disappointed by what I see being leaked about this film. I'm not going to shout "boycott!" but I'm really becoming almost completely uninterested in seeing the final product here.

Anywho, the one thing I do like is the yellow circles on the waist and the ab "grills"

I just think these designers went way too far with the details, like it's overkill. Not that I like or hate the flames, but that just adds to the confusion of everything that's going on with designs.

Makes me wonder if what they were saying about we're going to see things that they haven't done on screen before means with all the musculature and innards showing underneath, we'll see the insides moving. Like when they breathe? Like the "ribs" expanding and cotnracting?

There's one seen in iRobot where he's hold a gun and he goes to give it back to Will Smith's character. You actually see the parts in his shoulder turn, almost like what it would look like if humans didn't have flesh. I always thought that looked cool. Then again, it wasn't mucked up by tons of detail, so you could actually SEE what was going on.

then i would say, based on the blurry poster that we've seen, that his head would have bigger eyes, a rounded faceplate and a shorter face. ie something like this...

 

Well even though I am a G1 nut, I think I can live with this "Optimus" but, the flames still look cheesy! The body I guess I could live with.. but I do agree, the head looks a bit ******ed.

 

DAM. I can't wait to see that guy transform on-screen.

Crud, I'm compromising my affirmation of "no posts in movie threads" but I had to reply to this one.

I'm with those that say this is early concept artwork, and that the spoiler poster we recently saw is the finished version. There's just something a little 'off' about this. I can deal with it though, especially if the eyes glow yellow like in the other leaked images we've seen.

Once again, G1 prime will always be the difinitive Prime to me, but I can accept change and deal with it.

I've gotta agree with Beastbot X and Kjeevahh.

Looks like the concept art we are seeing (for any of the characters) is in fact what they are labeled - work in progress. That said...I'm glad they decided to go with the more traditional Prime head! Who knows what else they might have changed with some of the other characters, especially Megs and Starscream. It's no secret that alot of people were dissatisfied with their appearances, especially the heads. Could they have been affected as well?

 

Damn... it's Eeyore Prime. I wonder if perhaps Alan Rickman wouldn't have been a better choice for the voice of this guy.

Anyhow, the body is obviously from the earlier designs we've seen, as we know from the poster that they've gotten rid of the window tits. However, this head mod is a huge step backward. He looks like he'd cry like a little girl with a skint knee in the face of danger, not kick ass and take names while doing so.

 

He looks ready to fall apart, plus all the exposed machinery...

And the face... "Why the long face, Prime?"  

Sheesh. Why they didn't use Masterpiece or Classics Prime design - the designer is btw must be mad about criss-cross panels on the back, as all his designs so far (Megs, OP, BB) have those.
