Neat, though kinda stretching it for the conehead guys, since they are f-15 fuselages with different wings.

I remember the "Cybertronian" toy listing books stated Dirge Thrust, and Ramjet were based on real USAF prototypes that modified the F-15 to delta wing and VTOL configurations - statements I wouldn't believe for an instant.

    F-16

    F-4

    Harrier, (F-?)

    Concorde ?

Sorry, I missed the "Decepticon" part of the title.
(Doesn't Blitzwings, wings, seem kinda thin and something is missing from the undercarriage?))

Neat thread. To be honest though, the 3 coneheads are actually just F-15's with new wings that Takara thought looked cool, and are not really based on any existing plane.

As for Octane, I gotta say, I don't think he's based on anything either. His plane mode is very "deformed" due to his truck and robot modes, so he just ends up looking like a generic passenger jet. Though, if you really want to find a compatible mode for him, I find that the Boeing 767 resembles him more. Though that's just my opinion.

The rest of the planes you picked are spot-on though.

As for the Aerialbots; Silverbolt is a Concorde, Air Raid is an F-15, Fireflight is an F-4, Skydive is an F-16, and Slingshot is a GR.1 (Harrier).

If you want to be real specific, Octane is like a 707 without the engines mounted on the wing, sort of.

Two airframes that would make great alternate modes in a Masterpiece format would be the Su-27/30 series or the MiG-29.

Looking at this tread makes me want to buy Darkwing and Dreadwind off eBay. Those planes are very cool, and I loved those toys as a kid. Damn you, childhood self, for selling your Transformers. =(

    JdA:

LiquidVelcro compiled a big list of TF real-life altmodes, found in this
    alt.toys.transformers newsgroup thread, here:

    http://groups.google.com/group/alt.toys.transformers/tree/browse_frm/thread/39c5eed3f08db4c3/1157dbedf01d4b46?q=altmode+list&hl=en&rnum=281&lnk=ol

(You will have to scroll down through some of the thread posts)

It is not 100% accurate -- since then, it has been generally agreed on that G1 Ratchet/Ironhide were Nissan Onebox Cherry Vanettes (wotta mouthful that) and G1 Brawl is pretty clearly not an Abrams but a West German Leopard I main battle tank, for instance. (G2 Megs is an Abrams, for comparison). However, it's probably the most comprehensive one readily available.
