Here is my take on Shattered Glass Devastator. I had wanted to do this since I first saw a few of the SG Constructicons in the Botcon comic a few years back. It was kinda fun because Devastator's color scheme hasn't officially been revealed, so I had some artistic license. He is made from a KO white Devastator (of better than Big Lots, but less than Hasbro quality), Crazy Devy parts (I grew tired of their over priced and also questionable quality anyway), and a new chest shield from Energon Landmine parts. The Crazy Devy parts give him more articulation and pose-ability than the G1 version. I thought the new shield would separate him a bit from his evil self. He was painted by airbrush in all metallic colors, inked, and dry-brushed to bring out detail. I also used Protectobot and Constructicon Reprolabels. Omega Doom and SG Devastator placed 2nd in the 2012 Botcon diorama contest in a Shattered Glass Battle for Crystal City scene: More on Omega Doom here. Gestalt: Robot Modes: Alt Modes: Botcon Comic:
dude thats awesome i think the land mine part for the chest is a great idea to seperate it from g1 evil
truly heroic decepticons! totally agrees with all. the chest piece helps this figure from normal green version.
he looks really really great in that deco, the red crosses are a bizarre detail though, " the red cross, here to fuck shit up " I get why they're there, but SG Defensor would just be weird in green with stripes
Good idea. I didn't think about trying to make it functional. Just a side piece like the original... It can connect to Scrapper in the same way the normal shield does. I glued the same connector part of the old shield on the back of the plow. It would hang off the back of Scrapper. Thanks. In a weird way, I was most excited about putting the stripes on.
You're welcome. I make it, then TFC Toys puts our Perseus. I actually kinda hope that Maketoys will put out a SG version of Giant. Hercules wasn't my favorite, but it does look good in SG colors.
