Good Morning! It's been a while since I dabbled with TF figures and thought I would try a new one. I have been seeing allot of the wheeljack figures floating around in the stores and in the forums. Looking at it and having bought one, I thought it might be a good candidate for a TFP Rodimus figure. I had an extra Rodimus head (Courtesy of hXcpunk23) and an extra TFA Rodimus rear spoiler and slapped it together. I had to dig up an old gundam neck attachment for the new head/ B-joint tho. Not sure how I am gonna do the arm cannons tho, will be dismantling and painting on next days off. Here's pics of the WIP. As always sorry for the grainy crappy cam pics, Thoughts and comments Welcome.
you know what, shave off the nose, add eyebrows, little details to the head, and you'll have a a good prime like character.i hope we see the finished product soon.good luck =)
It does look it, it's actually not that much larger that the OEM head the added neck piece makes it look a little large (to me that is)
Nope I don't, Once everything is painted up and detailed out it will look better. with the white body and the dark red head it's going to look monstrous. Besides, if it was too big it wouldn't transform properly, correct?
Had this exact idea, but didn't want to rip apart my only classics Rodimus (whose head I thought would 1) not fit the prime aesthetic and 2) be too small). But looking forward to seeing this painted up b/c this mold in vehicle mode just screams Hot Rod/Rodimus. How are you going to handle the hood flames since the hood is technically the side of WJ's legs on this mold? That was something else I didn't put the time in to figure out.
I thought I would play around with a couple of Reprolables sets and see if I could figure out a compromise, considering this is TFP I am sure I can get away with a few liberties as long as it was primarily Rodimus.
Maybe you could attach a 5mm peg onto each arm cannon exactly in the center. Dremel a 5mm hole into the arms and plug the cannons into it. With the peg being in the center, you could rotate them one way in car mode (so they face backward like they should) and rotate them the opposite way in bot mode (facing front for firing). At any rate, love this so far.
Awesome! That head looks great painted up! I have to pat myself on the back for that one. HAHAHA (& yes, I'm joking around--I just did the best I could with what I had). I think the head looks a bit large, BUT only due to the fact that the body isn't painted yet. I know from experience with this mold (doing a Hot Rod from it myself), our eyes follow the abundance of white on the body & the windows give the effect of a very slim/thin torso. Once it's all painted up a more uniform color, I think the head will fit much better. Nice work, brother!
Have you tried Ani Roddy's head? Its total lack of facial features may lend itself well to a Prime Roddy?
