My friend is pretty sure he has a 60gb PS3. Last week he booted it up to play Burnout Revenge and he did an update as well. Moments after that update, he got messages saying that his system can no longer play Playstation 2 games. What happened? Has Sony released an update that renders the Backwards Compatibility inoperable? If so, is this update only effecting 80gb w/ the software emulation or does it affect 60gb w/ the hardware emulation as well?
To my knowledge there was an update that does grt rid of PS2 compatibility. (Even on the fat models) All PS3's can play PS1 games however...
i believe the consoles with software BC had this feature recently removed. why? the psn store now has ps2 titles for sale. fuck off sony.
Just booted up a PS2 game on my 60 GB. It's working fine. I personally haven't heard of any "update" removing backwards compatibility.
I realized after the intial post, that what I was referring to was just a rumor from a while back. I apologize for the confusion.
